Never mix oils - it may be the same version but they may be made of different ingredients which may react and cause emulsification or complete break down. If you change to a different manufacturer - always do a flush and drain well.

It's probably not dead!!! The motor mechanism worm drive just ceases up as it winds itself up to max torque when the glass gets to the top. If you take it apart and release the tension created by the worm drive then it will work again ..... for a few months or so. Grease it up well and this...

This is how I get ceased stainless drain screws out of alloy castings without any damage to the casting.... just get the arc welder out and weld a nut to it. The heat alone from doing that will free it up and a normal spanner will take it out no problem.
