I recently had to remove the front prop shaft as uj's at both ends had seized and were squeaking all the time as I don't have free wheel hubs.

First of all you are absolutely right all I am saying is fine grade shot is more effective so works out cheaper & as far as anyone knows doesn't affect your health.

You can reuse media if you sieve it & you don't use it to blast oily parts etc. I have a pressure pot which holds around 2 bags of media it has a 6mm nozzle which requires 80 cfm + a bit extra for the air fed mask. I have used calcium silicate to blast oak & a fine grade shot for blasting panels...

Some times if the thread is really rusted beyond the nut I cut any unwanted thread off with a angle grinder & slitting disc this will stop it damaging the nut when undoing it.
