    Another cooling system question

To put your mind at rest over the temperature, buy an actual gauge that reads the degrees of heat as they are more acturate. After suffering from the needle going in the red on some trips and not on other and worried about should it be at twelve a clock or nine oclock. I bought a temperature...

    Japan Earthquake

We can clone things, fly man to the moon, split atoms but one thing we can't do and that's control mother nature. Be it snow, floods, droughts, earthquakes, hurricanes, tsunamis, what ever happens we are only here for the ride so hang on and enjoy life to the fullest. My thoughts are with Japan

    Is my alternator working ?

Going by the voltage on idle your battery is charging.(alternator working) Next step would be to see if your battery is holding the charge. When you park it up at night check to see what voltage the battery is and then again in the morning. If you have a big difference you have either a fault...

    Oil filter leaking ?

A common way to get the oil filter off is to take off the front wheel and lift up or remove the rubber skirt so you can get to the oil filter easier. Just remember you have to push up and turn the filter at the same time for it to grip to the thread for tightening up.

    Leaky sunroof

To test pour some water in the gutter with the roof open and see if it goes down the holes and out behind the front guard. If its comes out around the control box your hose could be off so go to the workshop link and there is a download on how to fix it...

    Bit of a odd one..

What you'll find is that the rubber booty for the gear shift and 4x4 lever has perished. Remove the center console between the front seats and expose the levers. The rubber booty acts as a insulator where the hole in the floor pan is allowing the levers to come up from the gear box. The hot...

    Starter motor?

Before you run out and buy a battery a simple check with a vault meter. Once you get it started check to see what vaults are being put in it by the alternator by placing the vault meter on the battery terminals while the engine is running, should be any where 12- 14 volts the higher the voltage...

    what could this be/have been?

I'm wondering if you had a slight air lock or water in the fuel filter causing the juddering ? For water in the fuel might depend where the pick up is in the tank hence going up a hill if the pick up is at the back then the water could get sucked up. Could be just coincidental that the loose...

    corrosion/damp under rear seat

Sounds like it might be several things if coming across the front. 1. Around the front window 2. Have a look around the front mud guards and in particular where the door hinges are as sludge builds up between the skins when you look through pass the hinges. 3. Hose for the sunroof where it goes...

    towing with an auto

I agree on the standard set up. Our hills are a bit steeper and every where, pain in the butt when towing as the Mistral doesn't like them but still gets up them even if slow :( Oh for a intercooler Had no problem with auto over heating. And yes the secret is regular servicing ;)

Air filter and possible lack of power

If you are losing power after putting the K&N filter just double check to see if you have the correct filter. I had one but the wrong number for the model, replaced it with the correct one big difference

    Bleeding Terrano 2 Fuel Filter

Sounds like it has not been bled fully. When you primed it did the primer knob go hard ? If not you still have air in the system, so keep on pumping the primer until it goes rock hard. Other option is to start again and you'll need to take the filter off again and fill it up with diesel and...

    Clock not lighting up

Sounds like the bulb has blown which means that the dashboard need to come out. Not to bad of a job to get it out, just a case of finding all the bolts and screws that holds the dashboard in place. Don't force anything as the bolts and screws are often hidden by another panel that needs to come...
