corrosion/damp under rear seat

I've just found a recent repair to my Mistral,under the rear seat base near to the seatbelt mounting,and pretty close to the rear spring

The good news is that it is a very good repair,seam welded in and fully sealed,but the area is still damp and the soundproofing under the carpet has disintegrated.Any ideas where water may come into this area?

Sorry,it's a lwb,i've just had another look - the double skinned corugated section underneath has gone in a few places,are there repair panels available?

Just repaired the same , could not find repair panels i just made my own.

That seems to be the main problem with these trucks, is the dreaded tinworm. Mine was like a flintstone car in the rear, there was only the carpet holding things together.....

Well.....

I've just removed all the seats and carpets.Underneath they were soaking wet through!

There have been a few small patch repairs.One to the wheelarch/seatbelt mount and 2 small patches in the middle of the floor.The other seatbelt mount brought a chunk of wheelarch off with it!

i've dried everything off and had a good poke.Most of the sound proofing pads have been chiselled off so i need so strip it all off to check underneath.I plan to cut out the small patches and replace with a larger,uniform shaped piece,then seal/paint.

The damp goes right across and under the front seats.How come it gets this bad?.Do i need to put a hosepipe on whilst checking inside to see where it's getting in,are there favourite spots to check.......The upper body of this car is mint!

Sounds like it might be several things if coming across the front.

1. Around the front window
2. Have a look around the front mud guards and in particular where the door hinges are as sludge builds up between the skins when you look through pass the hinges.
3. Hose for the sunroof where it goes outside I think behind the mud guard.
4. Check any floor bungs.
5. Heater matrix or hoses leaking .

Just a couple of ideas to check and I'm sure there will be more from others

While the carpet is out and seats why not get the hose out and squirt over the front and see if you can see where it is coming from

If it's coming in the back try squirting underneath above the rear axle where the body arches up as this is where the 2 outer skins cross over and the join is not sealed hence the water gets between forming one of the rust areas behind the rear seat.
