y61 2.8 patrol issues

Nobody was expecting the pump to make a difference as it seemed to be working, but shows just how sensitive these pumps are. It was all cleaned out and a new overflow valve was put in, all tested and put back together.
I was reading on the aus forums how the timing on these engines is really strange as come out of factory with the timing really retarded and that increasing this is a good thing. The timing on mine was at rock bottom limit so set to top limit then added another 2 degrees.
Everything all put back together and started it up and low and behold total smoothness and no smoke :clap
I've run it for a couple of days and all good.
So, the mods continue...
Next week a snorkel is going on with a green air filter
Then it's going in to get a chip, boost controller and boost gauge and set up on rolling road...
Before that I'm trying to find an uprated intercooler but not having any luck so might just be the boost controller and chip.
I want to do this before getting the wheels and tyres to feel the difference it makes to what I'm used to

You have to take the bad times with the good, usually when the truck goes wrong there's usually a situation which came with it which carries some emotion with it. It's nice to touch on those and nicer to have them all in one thread :thumbs
Mines a mix of both for the above reasons, nice not to have to remove all the problem posts from your project thread though when you come to sell up the truck :naughty :lol :lol

You know it makes sense, everytime I see a certain pic I took from the first time I did a water pump on my Maverick I always feel freezing cold as I did that with snow on the floor and managed to knacker the gasket 3 times

Good stuff budShe's at mine every weekend so practically moved in but both of us have been laid up with lurgy so not been able to get my room sorted and the new wardrobe up so I can fit in all her stuff :lol
Hiring a van for a day on Saturday though so I can finally get stuff moved into storage at the farm and get finished :thumbs
