I could help out with a small campstove for Mr K if required and I do have 2 tents possibly 3 if I buy a roof tent before the meet. Anyone ever been to tuff trek in E Sussex? As I’ve seen a roof tent I like.

It's a difficult one as the Chinese kit is cheap for a reason. I was talking to a lad at the weekend who has a 4x4 Direct awning and he complained about the stitching on it. He had a look at the Howling Moon and said the difference was night and day. I'd get out and have a look at some in the flesh and would be swinging by Nene Overland up in Maidenhead too.
I'd say that it's worth spending on the South African/Australian tents as you'll get a far better second hand price if you decide to sell it on, you'll lose less. I think the fabbic is too thin and too light on the Chinese tents too, I woke up at 9am on Sunday and was surprised to see the sun shining in a clear blue sky, that wouldn't happen in a Chinese fabriced tent.
I think there are probably better folks to deal with out there too, Adam at http://www.lrchallenge4x4.co.uk/ is a great lad to deal with and the lads at https://westcoastoffroad.co.uk/shop/accessories/rooftop-tent/ are sound too.

I've seen Simons howling moon rtt up close, it is a quality piece of kit, made from some really good material.

Is Adam the guy we met at Avon show Simon?, if so then yeh great guys to deal with, i got my snorkel from him.

That's the guy, he got the money for my snorkel too. I spent a good 2 years looking at the Chinese jobbies and knew in the back of my mind that I wouldn't have been happy with it. The Howling Moon, on the other hand, I can't stop going on about... So I will here... :p

If I may throw something into the mix, Neil. Have you considered one of these? https://www.flatdoguk.com/wizz-26~2447

Good quality, quick set up and cheaper than a Chinese RTT.

I'm lucky to have a Tentco South African rooftent.
I'm with Simon, go for canvas, proper canvas, not Oxford poly.
Complete blackout from the sun outside.
Cooler in the summer, warmer in the winter.
Buy secondhand, with confidence.

Are you coming then Pete? my Mrs says you have to, Rick

I really hope so Rick. I've been out of the loop a lot lately. took a couple of weeks off work. Then did my shoulder in and only just getting back on the tools. Got to get the engine back in the Pearl then should be good to go :)

I've been up this here PnP site a few times. Bring a winch and some spare panels. It's great but not all that gentle.
Here's my Troll having some loon time up there ;)
