yeagh soon as they cotton on theyll pull mat from under yer feet!

Yes and it'll cost us £10 for fish&chips  due to the price of the oil

Time to get your local chippy to bring back good old beef dripping (lard)it always tasted better than veg oil

I wouldn't buy my chips from anywhere that wasn't using dripping anyway, plenty up here still do - just not the same cooked in veg oil.

VEG OIL

hi fellow oilers.
i have just read H.B. post to sheila ,she tells me it was in the isle called WORLD FOODS. its a main store TOP VALLEY nottingham
ONLY ADVICE I CAN GIVE REGARDING VEG MIX IS TO START SLOWLY.
KEEP AN EYE ON COLD WEATHER REPORTS ,REMEMBER YOU ONLY HAVE TO GO AND TOP UP TO WEAKEN MIX THEN RUN 10 MINS AND WEAKER MIX WILL BE IN PUMP AND INJECTORS
TRY TO GET STRAIGHT FUEL IN TANK ONCE EVERY 4 FILL UPS THAT SHOULD WASH EVERY THING OUT ,THEN START AGAIN WHEN NEARLY EMPTY

VEG OIL

hi fellow oilers.
saturday my truck was nearly empty so i put 15lts of sunflower oil £10.09p from tesco as above post.
topped up with diesel started a little ruff this morning but have been in peak district most of the day by the time i arrived home had done 96miles truck running as sweet as a nut :p on approx 25% sunflower oil.
to fill up i needed a plastic bottle with the base cut off then no problem.

We are now running 25-30% SVO in the Mav as often as we can get cheap veg oil :) Off up to Nottingham tomorrow so may stock up as it seems cheaper in that neck of the woods?

Have not been too fussy what oil as long as it is nice and runny! Sunflower/rape/corn oil.

Just replaced the fuel filter and keeping an eye on the sump oil.

I've just done 800 miles on BP Ultimate Derv and car ran sweet as a nut, but the price is not real @1.19 per ltr.

Just thought I'd give it ago before it gets the vegetable rubbish so I can look back on how it should run

I'm going to use Tesco's veg oil which is rapeseed, so time will tell!!!!!! if engine knacks up it will be a Patrol for me

BTW this thread is getting full of CARP, where are the MODS when U need them  ?????

keep up the good work

im still not convinced by the maths!

diesel 110p

veg oil 80p

25% mix 30L diesel £33 10L veg oil £8 saving £5?

oil and filter change £40-50? with decent oil, fuel filter £15, injectors £? pump £?

(please correct me if i am wrong1)

I agree with gego it is getting a bit repetative!

been running for 5 weeks now on varing strents of tescos veg oil seems to run better than on derv?????? mind u tescos derv is normaly put in

Sorry guys, have been frying to follow this, but as usuall I've slid sidways.

One question........have anybody had any problems running on veggie oil :?: :?: :?: before I start to, I just want to make sure its not going to cost more than I might save.

Cheers

Pete

Normally after running on veg for a while you will find the vehicle is a little quieter, runs a little smoother and is generally better. Why? I dunno, its documented somewhere if you look though.

I'm using about 60% veg now sometimes more with no known problems.

Considering that most of my mileage is off road and in low box in the rough stuff, I'm pleased with the MPG which is about 28MPG (27.3) last check and varies little, maybe 1 MPG or less either way.

Price is going up all the time and is now only about 30p cheaper than fossil fuel. Much more and I don't think I'll bother making the effort for such a low saving.

The way the price of v/oil as gone up round here, I have stoped getting it, as cameraman said, not saving that much & then theres the time going round looking for the cheapest oil, miss the look on peoples faces though when I was putting it in on the carpark. -rotfl-

Somebody said that putting the veg oil in would reduce the emissions?
If I'm right in thinking,the T2 is in band "F" for emissions,which is 186-225 CO2(g/km)!
On my Registration form it has my T2 at 263 G/KM,is this right?? :?
If it is,would using veg oil bring the emissions down to the next band,or am i being to optimistic??
And who checks that the emissions are correct on the paper work so you pay the right road tax,DVLA??
:?

Following on from the current cost of veg/SVO Mr Sadbwstd here had an afternoon to kill while in Leicester yesterday (and free gas in the Co. car ;) )

Prices from around that area:-

Costcutter £2.09/3 litres (70p/l)
Spiceland Food (Asian food wholesaler) £10.99/15 litres (73.2p/l)
Sainsbury £2.21/3 litres (73.6p/l)
Asda £2.21/3 litres
Lidl £0.78/litre
Somerfield £2.45/3 litres (81.6p/l)

I ought to get out more?

HMC want tax when you use veg oil. Are you going to tell them your using it as fuel :?: Could be good if you get your tank dipped! If you use genuine biodiesel you pay duty on it.

Its called having your cake and eating it

Bus company in this area spent thousands converting buses to run on veg oil and when the government hammered them on fuel duty tax it cost them more over the year than running on DERV. Fools and they put fares up to get cost back.
They think its great having stickers on saying green bus, what a laugh aye.
