The car gods give with one hand and take with the other :lol good news though and the aircon is a nice little bonus eh.
I reckon you stand a good chance of finding a matching tyre part worn or on a wheel, type Pirelli scorpion in tbay mate :thumb2

Clive, can you not put a tube in it with a patch over the leak on the inside (to stop it pinching the tube)? and I think I might have a Scorpion around some place I remember the name so must have had one at some point, Rick

I did wonder about the tube idea, but in the past I have never found anyone round here that will put a tube in a car tyre, one place actually told me it was illegal in Radials..

The guy who looked at it, said that as the hole is right on the corner, there is too much flexing to put a patch on, even if they were allowed to.

Thanks for the offer, but we have now taken the bull by the horns, and ordered the BFG's. Do you by chance have a single 16" alloy wheel we could buy?

Also Clive what size did you order?

I have BFG's on my one, love them. Have had them on all my 4x4's, with the exception of one time, when I put General Grabbers on. The Generals were OK, but I think for all round performance, and lasting you have to go a fair way to beat the BFG's. Mine have always been OK in mud, obviously not to an MT's level, but defnataly acceptable for a tyre that has great road manners..

As Jiggly is not lifted, I have stuck with 235/70 16's which are 29".

When I replace the ones on my car which has both 2" suspension and 2" body, I want to go up to 245/75 16's, which is 30.5"

I have 245 75 16 on, it's not lifted and I haven't had any problems, I was thinking of going up an inch after I put some new suspension on :nenau

I really rate the tyres, but the only two times I've been stuck have been in mud :doh They have also done really well on mud in other situations though so It could well be me :lol

Too busy worrying about ya make up? :thumbs

Those BFG's will outlast the truck, I got silly Mileage out of the last set of 31's I had on the Terrano and before that they were on the Maverick

Well Jiggly has 4 new shoes... It's no good, Terrano's definitely look so much better with a set of nice chunky tyres on, and I love the white writing as well.

I have kept the spare as standard at the moment, as when I upgrade my tyres to larger the ones, I will need to upgrade the spare as well, so we can take the spare from mine for Suz's. I will need to change the spare soon though, as when we found the date stamp, it is week 46, 2000, which means it must be the original spare. It looks fine, but I would not be comfortable running any distance on a 16year old tyre.

You are right there, the ones on my truck have done 32K, and are only just over half worn.

When I had the company Vitara from new, it needed the standard first tyres changed at 28K, I asked the boss if I could pay the extra to put AT's on it, and he said yes. When he saw them with the white writing on the walls, he said they made it look so much more rugged, he was happy to pay for them. Then when the first set lasted 45K, he was more than happy put the next set on. The rest of the company cars were Hyundai coupe and Citroen zx and he actually considered putting AT's on them because they saved the company so much money..:lol

That's good to know, can you post a picture?

Where are they closest to the body, I guess it would be at full lock and the back of the front wheels are closest to the mud flaps. How much space do you have?

If its any use to you and the size equates about right enough to get you out of trouble, I have a BFGoodrich AT here but tyre size is 31 10.50 R15, it's sitting in my garden on a Maverick alloy with 5mm of tread and screaming to be used.

its yours for free if you want it, you'd be doing me a favour I have no space.

If Clive doesn't want it and anyone else wants 2nd dibs it's yours if you collect or arrange collection, makes all the difference to have a spare that matches and saved you having to buy a brand new 5th

Thanks very much for the kind offer, but Suz's car has 16" wheels, and the larger back brake drums, so I don't think 15's will fit.

It's not a problem at the moment, as I will use the spare like a "space saver", and just put it on to get us out of trouble, rather than sticking it on and leaving it there, but if anyone does have a matching 16" alloy wheel in reasonable condition for a good price, I will be keeping my eye out for one.

I have the larger hubs on mine and running 15's :thumbs

No worries
