Started having issue the other day - the car was starting fine but reluctant to rev and eventually settled to only ticking over. Got Code 12 which suggests a MAF related problem (circuit malfunction). However there is also a Code 95 which isn't on the list?????

Prior to this issue, I had charged up the battery and had rested the large 40m mains extension reel in the area to the left of the MAF so that the bonnet was just open enough to clear the charger and keep off any rain.

I am suspicious that I may have compromised the wiring in that area. I'm not that good with vehicles but did remove a connector at the top that has 4 wires - I think they are blue, red green and black. It all looked tidy so I pushed it back in. Trying to to see where these wires go, but it's not clear - I thought it would be worth checking to see if there was a continuity issue. The car is now off road so it's not practical to get it to a garage to see a doctor (the MAF is a Bosch).

Today, I waggled some of the connectors further down in case there was a bad connection and now it refuses to start. Any help from you experts would be appreciated - like where do these 4 wires go and is Code 12 (and 95?) likely to be anything to do with this part of the wiring?

Can you post a photo of the connector in question.

Assuming startermotor turns over without problems.

OK 95 is crank position sensor, on a Bosch it is on top of the bell housing, check the connector plug but probably needs a new sensor, it will not start if it gives no reading to the ECU, Rick

Shout up if you need a new CKP sensor as I have a few in stock :thumb2

A slight step back, why were you charging the battery what problems had you been having?

The pic is of the MAF and as you say it is a Bosch, they are self cleaning so best left alone, the CPS is on top of the bell housing and the connector is near the rear of the inlet manifold put it apart and you should have around 1500 ohms on the sensor, Rick

The battery was being charged because the car is only used in the grounds of the property for regular but very short runs, so tends to need a boost fairly regularly especially when the weather is cold.

Looking some of the earlier posts on the forum with similar probs, I was wondering if it might be worth running a new cable from the MAF to the ECU and also checking on the earthing.

Where exactly do I find the ECU?

You are getting too complicated, just check the CPS sensor OHMS Rick

assuming his alarm is ok,try taking key out of ignition closing all doors then locking with key leave a bit then unlock with fob as it can turn over even if imobiliser is on.
