Keeping Busy - In Car Infotainment
Been hoarding bits and bobs now and have about 3-4 different iterations of working offline GPS navigation for green laning with 25k OS Explorer Maps
After trialling many windscreen mounted tablets I've decided on something a bit more sturdy and a bit more out there :naughty
I've decided I wanted to use a Panasonic Toughbook CF-19 as I love them to bits and have a fair few at my disposal.
I firstly grabbed a CF-19 In-Car Dashboard Mount from Artem in Ukraine over at Barrmaley :naughty

Then got my hands on a nice quality VESA mount and got busy.........
I've decided that the best place for it to be mounted is from the roof near the front windscreen as there is a metal brace there capable of a bit of load bearing
So out with the roof lining, I'm binning the front map lights and also removed the metal support that screws to the body holding the map lights in place.
Decided to use x4 M8 Rivnuts using the two existing upper holes from the light bracket and then made two others below, you'll note they aren't 100% square, this was deliberate to miss wiring and contours in the support. The lips are coated in marker pen for the paper template that I created.
