Sump Guard and Pig Tail Recovery Point

I removed the one from my breaker as it appears to have been modded and the way it attaches to the chassis is awesome and real quick and easy to remove

Out comes the drill again with the wire brush attachment :naughty

Brushed back down to bare metal

Then it got some Hammerite loving :kissy

Just drying now, will refit this when I've swapped diffs and replaced my driveshaft :thumb2

I feel my Waxoyl session coming on soon now the temp is picking up again

It's going to be better than Rustics motor for underseal :hide:

LOKKA

I got round to removing my front diff from Terrance this evening, drained the fluid and cracked it open to compare and see if the later diffs are different or not.

First things first, a tip for the guys with the Mk3's, there is a lip on the torsion bar trunion which prevents removal of a bolt in the front crossmember and requires the torsion bars to be removed, best thing to do is get the angle grinder on the original bolt and put a spare in the other way round :thumbs

Next lets put to bed a myth, driveshafts!!!!

2004 driveshaft that I brought from eBay at the top
1999 driveshaft that I painted at the bottom

20150603_184643.jpg

Out comes the old diff and comparison time

IDENTICAL!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! But we're not out of the woods yet
20150603_191744.jpg

Next it was time to whip the both open, with a help from Elty (cheers bud :thumb2) I was able to divide the number of teeth on the pinion and crown to find out the ratio

My 2004 open diff had 35 teeth on the big pinion and 8 on the small crown which gave us a ratio of 4.375-1
Screenshot_2015_06_04_01_23_34_1.png

Opened the 1999 diff up running the LOKKA and it's running the same ratio!!!!! :jump
35 on big pinion and 8 on the small crown = 4.375-1

It was at this point I was dissapointed as in my haste to remove the diff, i hadn't thought about how I was going to get it back in on my own :doh

I'm going to have to sweet talk the guys in the garage at work to help me on a ramp after work :p

The front of the car is so high now :lol :lol

So as of tomorrow I'll officially be able to change my sig and declare that I'm LOKKA'D

Disintegrated Brake Shoe

Car jammed up on me one morning as I tried to leave for work from my driveway, went in on my bike got home afterwards and I opened the drums up in the end to find that the pad on the shoe in the drivers rear hub had fell off :( It looks like the glue has failed :(

20150619_193422.jpg

Brought a new set of Shoes and fitted them, it's easy when you've done a set before, I remembered it like riding a bike, not daunting at all

And while they were off I gave the hubs a bit of a loving :)

New Spare Wheel Cover

The cover that I had was getting a bit shabby, it was never big enough really to go over the BFGoodrich on the back door and had started to tear in multiple places, I was given a Silver OEM Terrano one along with all of my plastic bits that I drove to Norwich for on Monday

Old Cover

This is the new one (perfect colour match)
20150630_190339.jpg

Cleaned it up and then had to modify my carrier on the back door as it didn't have the holes there for the original bolt to go through it.

Cut an M10 bolt down to the perfect size and bolted it through a hole I'd drilled through the carrier

Then the final result, wheel back on, push the cover onto the thread, then a Nyloc M10 nut with a black plastic cap on to make it look nice :thumb2

Very smart indeed.......I may have to remove my rear door card to fit something, let me know how you get on fitting and how difficult to reverse the process.....?

I do like your spare wheel cover, I have the black all in one job, like your 1st picture, I may look into the mod you did, good job :thumb2

Parts Needed Can Anyone Help

To move forward with the car I have a few little niggly jobs I want to do first and some parts that need replacing

Can anyone help me source the following;

Mk3 Drivers Side Rear Bumper Light cluster >02 onwards

A set of Rear Spring Rubbers - The rubbers that sit on top of the springs in their cups

A black grab handle for the drivers side as they only fitted one on the passengers side :doh

An Early Mk3 front bumper, the older design suits the hidden winch tray mod that I want to do as per the one BonusXU1 has done, I'm after one like this, colour coded so I can have it resprayed the same colour Silver as the car

Dashboard Bulbs

Since I've brought the car the bulbs in the dashboard have been really dim and I've finally got round to replacing them with some higher powered ones that really light the dash up better without the horrible white spots of going LED :thumb2

Before

After

It does look better in real life, the camera doesn't do it justice
