Box and engine looked nice and square, well done but think you over did it on the sealant, god forbid if you ever need to seperate them again, Nissan just ran a bead around joint after assembled, you have stuck them together, bet you could take the bolts out after it has set and it will never come apart, belt and braces yea, Rick

Nah I recckon it will come apart alright, the weight and momentum of the box should free it nicely, although the excessive application was kind of deliberate as I do lots of wading and off roading I just thought it would waterproof it, I even put a small bead aroud the starter motor :thumb2

None the less Zac due credit to you for a very good job, just goes to prove I am getting too old for this stuff, Rick

Not at all Rick, I've had the luxury of youthful strength and time to my advantage which you oppose with a 4 poster and years of experience :naughty

Now I've tackled this job I don't think there is any other job that can scare me :naughty

Well done that man:clap fantastic add to an already great build thread. Fingers crossed for the first drive:thumb2

Thanks mate, feels like I'm finally getting there :thumb2 I'll be glad when it's back on the road :bow With my Powerchip turned up full of course :sly

As you've said previously, the weak point will keep on moving down the line. With luck you may have got to the "end of the line".

Hears hoping.

It's been great watching this thread. I take my hat of to you bloke. I'd have just trundled it off to my spanner monkey.

Wish I had that luxury mate :( I don't know of 1 mechanic I'd trust, got 2 mates that are mechanics at little garages in B'ham and some of the stuff I've seen them do to customers cars has sickened me.

Plus I really didn't have the cash and really wanted to do a clutch job for the satisfaction and self-development, I'd happily do another now and have it done in half the time :thumb2

Arrived home to some goodies :naughty Nothing exciting but nonetheless stuff I need to get Terrance back on the road.

Hopefully the 75w-90 will resolve my difficulty engaging 1st gear when cold :bow

Seems Milners have sent me the wrong exhaust gasket :doh

Is anyone surprised? I'm not :(

They are on the shelf at my local factors, a bog standard gasket that fits loads of motors, Rick
That's where I will be heading at lunch but as they were only a couple of quid from Milners and I couldn't find reasonably priced TOYO UJ's or any UJ's actually that had grease nipples anywhere else I threw one onto my order.

I ordered the right one when I checked back on my order last night, clearly a picking error, to this day I've never had an uneventful order from that place, I swear they do it deliberate

Must just be you Zac :lol
Only ever in many years of using milners had the wrong stuff delivered.
I nipped up and took it back to swap it and they gave me a couple of keyrings, calender and an air filter for the hassle :thumb2

Had an e-mail back from Harriet earlier who said she apologises and it does appear that there has been a picking error

I went to my trust back street motor factors at lunch and he pulled one off the shelf for few pence more :thumb2

Little bit more

Filled the gearbox up last night, didn't mess around with funnels and hosepipe, why make life difficult when I could just pour it into the top of the gearbox as the gear stick was still out :naughty Owners Manual states that my box takes 5.1 litres of fluid, I measured what came out the box as it drained and I got 4.9 litres.

I'm going to grab another litre at lunch and put another few hundred ml in, as I've heard that this helps with preventing the layshaft bearing rattle

Then I cracked on with replacing the knackered UJ in my front propshaft and one in my rear propshaft

No Thor hammer needed or any heavy handed tactics, just a few little tricks I've seen online;

The front prop UJ did end up giving me some grief so I nipped the end off with an angle grinder

New UJ's pressed in and I know this one will be a bit controversial but I've painted my props :sly I know people have said in the past that they are delicately weighted etc but if I get any vibrations or weird rattles then I'll come back and let you all say "I told you so"

Going to strip the torsion bars tonight and get them painted too, then refit the props

Good work Zac. Did you get a price from your motor factor for uj's? You might be surprised:nenau

Yeah I did you know, he said he would only be able to get the rear prop ones and they would be Blueprint with no grease nipples and were £14 each and his supplier didn't stock any for the front prop which are 10mm smaller than the rears

So it seems it's going to be impossible not to use Milners, If I get one wish for next year it's that they get my orders right and don't send me junk/incorrect parts :(

Nearly there Zac, like your little touches like the paint :clap

Just watch out for movement from the sliding joint on the front prop.
