OK you guys, here we go all over again, for those of you that don't know, whilst on Holiday to the Isle of Wight, Marvin the Maverick was smashed into in standstill traffic on the M3 by a Polish truck driver that wasn't paying attention to the road, the car has now been written off and I will be breaking the truck for parts (see thread here - http://www.nissan4x4ownersclub.com/forum/showthread.php?t=22871)

So I've been looking around for another Maverick and all of the ones I've been out to see have been utter sheds so I started to look at newer stuff and came across a 2004 Silver Terrano II Commercial 2.7TDi, the car was only 30 mins away in Telford and was originally up for £2600 on eBay, after going to see it and after a bit of unforgiving persuasion I eventually haggled the truck down to £2000 :thumbs

Picked it up on Friday :D, it's immaculate outside and the chassis is solid as a rock, the inside was riffy as the previous owner had a very hairy dog and the back was a little muddy as it has been used as a van.

We've given the inside a very thorough clean but haven't had chance to clean outside this weekend so I'll be doing that in the week hopefully

It has a few niggles but they are very trivial niggles such as AirCon needs a re-gas etc etc All will unfold over the coming pages and I hope to take you all along for the ride :clap

Pics to follow :thumb2

Looks like the cat just let one rip on the last picture :lol :augie

But on a serious note again, looks like a stunner, nice motor you got yourself there! :clap

Does look nice that, now find out what those little round light things are on the back :lol

This doesn't sound good lol, tell me what you know?!?!?

Hah.. That's pretty much it :lol

What I was getting at is, I hope it's just slowly lost its gas as opposed to a hard to locate split ac pipe or knackered condenser for example:thumb2

Very nice example.
I need the arm from the bottom of the steering idler box.if you want to spit it.

What the new one ?? :lol

The Maverick is being broke for bits if you need anything :thumb2

Nice T Banshee, very nice, like the moggie too.......:thumb2

Thanks mate, his name is Buzz, it's not ours but spends 90% of it's life with us, the family that "owns" him have 2 small girls and they are forever chasing him around the garden so I can see why he stays away and prefers our company :lol

OK, I'm going to attempt a few niggly jobs on the car soon but wanted to run a few things past you lot first before I started as this truck WILL NOT be bodged!!!!!!!!!

1st, I'm going to need to replace the passengers side air bag as it is all damaged and looks terrible, how are they removed?

2nd - The gear knobs don't appear to be screw on like my Maverick, but I want to replace them because the gear stick knob has fell to bits, how do you remove them?

3rd - I have the later speedo cluster with the digital milage readout etc, the bulbs are soooooo dim that I can hardly see the dash in the dark , what bulbs do they take and can I up the amperage to make it brighter, I obviously don't want to draw too much current and damage the clocks as I know they are temperamental at the best of times. Also does anyone know if the temperature on the dash is the outside or inside temp?

Looks very nice mate:thumbs the gear knobs are screw on like your mavericks are but for some reason on the later models I think nissan added a drop of glue to the threads prob to stop them coming free like the earlier models did well that's what happened on my MK2, anyway I ended up using a big pair of adjustable pump pliers to break the seal but once they are freed off they unscrew no probs:thumbs I just cleaned up the threads with a blade & my pool balls screwed on no probs:D
The temp gauge on the dash is outside temp & the 'c will flash when it gets down to 3'c as an ice warning:thumbs i'm sure i've found the sensor for this to it's up behind the N/S/R tail light in the bumper

1st with great care, but honestly do not know on a post 2000 cncfabs comes to mind

2nd think they do still screw on but can be hard to get off

3rd just renew the bulbs, all the later models suffer with inferior kit, bet they black, oh and temperature is reading outside, Rick

Outside temp:thumb2

Might just be the old bulbs are silvered or summat. Carefull fitting bigger watts size, someone posted about having nasty effects from the extra heat. Leds are a good idea but they tend to produce bright spots.

Depends on the LED's used but have read of people lightly sanding the tips of the LED's which really helped in reducing the bright spots

Update

Not a very interesting one but I have to start with something lol

I've just slapped this OEM Terrano sicker apparently on the back of my Terrano that came up on eBay :thumbs

I've also put a Think Bike sticker in my back window.

On a more mechanical/electrical note, I will hopefully be fitting the towbar from my Maverick onto my Terrano this week as the one currently on the Terrano is horrible quality, the one from the Maverick looks OEM as it has the Nissan metal plate riveted to it saying made for Nissan by Thule :thumbs

Pics to follow :clap
