5ft 9 car sits about 6ft and when i am finished car will sit a 6ft 5

so a soft car wash type brush will easily reach most of the loose material :thumb2

Im 6ft2 and can easily clean a grand cherokee roof with a squeegee, dont even need a brush.

How can you be driving withou Due Care and attention if...you have cleared the snow off the roof before starting off [which we all do ..don't we...same as we all check our lights don't we :augie] then the snow builds up as we are driving. :thumb2:D

not on about the law here

i am on about the bloody fine and points,

and tbh you shouldnt be driving that colse to anything in the snow for a bit of roof dust to affect you

keep well back from the road user in front as stopping distances can be ten times greater than on dry roads

so at lest 3 car lengths

i was on the m 62 tonight , heading to wakefield .. when a lorry joined at junction 26 ( chain bar ) .... as he joined the motorway , a cloud of snow / ice came off the top of the lorry , it was like heavy fog , no one could see a thing , i backed off big time , but that was very dangerous , im not sure what the lorry driver could have done to prevent it tho

Well Pete, in a word NOWT, it pays to keep on your guard when approaching slip roads and just steadyily check around to see "if" you have to take evasive action where you would go and what about others around you, just go steady pete

As Far As I Know.

When I did the IAM Test years ago I rememebr the instructor, who was a black rat, telling me that about the highway code, and that if it said must or must not in a rule, then that rule could be quoted in evidence against you if you we're being prosecuted.

Having said that, I've been (successfully) prosecuted for the offence of "road rage" and there's nothing about that in the highway code. It was actually shown as a CD10 on my licence.

There's nothing saying You Must Not reverse into someone else's car at 30mph because their wife is offensive and deserves to die either, but that didn't stop them giving me 7 points and a £350 fine.

But like I said I was stopped waiting to go around the traffic island and the wagon passed in front of me...you cannot avoid that.

You'll easily spot the pillock who hasnt even got the sense to dodge the fuzz.

When all adjacent car roofs are clear because the conscientious owners cleared them before setting off . Mr Gormless comes along with something nice and square about the size of a large roof box up top still bearing the marks where the window scraper hit it that morning. You'll see em

:thumbs

never clear my roof if just popping out but do if i am going on longer journeys

and i bet we all de-ice the windscreen washers as well and they are fully functional all the time (mine are heated with the wing mirrors)

also i have little wiper blades on the head lamps so they take car of any snow lol

hi mate its not the bit about the snow coming off and hitting cars behind you its when you have to breake hard and it slides off the roof blocking you vision thats is very dangous as at that point you might as well close ur eyes while driving :doh

No you haven't. Theres no such offence as road rage. The endorsement code indicates the offence of driving without due care. That is a statutory offence under the road traffic act.

think about the drivers behind you when it comes off your roof and makes visibility very difficult too ..... or doesnt that matter ?

i think if you have 6-8" of snow on your roof, 1- speed should be to the conditions, slow. 2 leave extra distance between car in front, 3 how do i clean the snow of the roof of my camper, it's 8ft high, :nenau

just another way of fleecing the motorist. :doh

whilst i agree with the fact it represents a danger to you and other motorists i still cant help think that all of the energy and resources that the police have are pointed slighty in the wrong direction ie the easy target motorist. I like many others wonder when something is going to be done about the rise in theft from work place and home all for these scrotes to be caught prosecuted then let off whats the point ? chop their hands off i say

8ft is high up and I would suggest its not practicable to monitor it and you do have a defence :thumb2

even driving slow you can still leave a cloud of snow for the driver behind to navigate through , even if he drives at a reasonable and safe distance behind .... it sort of hangs in the air

All I can say to this is that I was asked this question at the end of my test as whilst on my test I had to follow a funeral car that had about 2 inches of snow on the top and the examiner referred to this, the answer I gave was that your VEHICLE should be clear of snow on the roof, bonnet and boot, bearing in mind that back then a lot of cars had boots, remember them...

As for what and cant be an offence, look and think of this one, last year I was leaving Pembroke Dock on a day similiar to today and when I got up to the Heads of the Valleys near Merthy Tydfil I got pulled, the policeman said hed followed me off the motorway and asked me to clean my rear light lenses as they were difficult to see, when I told him Id cleaned and checked all the lights whilst waiting to be unloadded his reply was "well that maywell be the case but please clean them or I will have to book you" he said this with his pad in hand, so he was serious.

We are all resonsible for the condition /safety of our vehicles and if it adds time onto our journey then so be it, I would rather clean the roof off than the snow / ice come off and the driver behind swerve and kill a child, this is how "INCIDENTS" NOT "ACCIDENTS" HAPPEN.

My 2 penneth worth, thanks

soft car wash brush with an extension pole is what i use to clear mine.was about 20cm of snow on the truck yesterday when i went out to warm the motor up.
mine stands quite tall with a 2"lift and 31's on it,i'm not the tallest of people but the whole process took about 10 mins.:thumbsbetter than a fine and points.

they should be driving to the conditions of the road, ie leave extra distance, common sense should prevail in these conditions, i had some prat trying to push me along yesterday, soon stopped his farting church, i hit the brakes, his face looked like this:eek:
