can't you just fit runflat tyres and rims?

Yes but i was quoting an article from the 80s where they were talking about developing a support structure inside the tyre ie almost what these things are but covered over.

Definitely at that time and in my experience run flats are limited and will eventually tear off the names descibes the problem. With a support structure inside they would last much longer or even for the life of the tread :D

geddoff! after a puncture you can do 100 miles at 50mph with no problem whatsoever. They have extremely thick reinforced sidewalls so providing they are fitted to r/f rims theres no problem....indeed on a caravan which doesn't exceed that speed and doesn't need to corner like a sports car such technology is probably spot on.

Mind you - I've just dumped them on the beemer in favour of non-RFTs and a can of tyre-weld for reasons I won't bore you with but you can probably work out.

In a straight line with dubious handling I have no doubt.

Its a few years since i had a shot of any so no doubt tech has moved on but they were fitted to oh fcuk lets get out of here vehicles.

Limited performance and limited lifespan :thumb2

LOB :lol:lol:lol:lol:lol:lol:lol:lol:lol the manf will tell you on a caravan the idea is to let you get to and stop in a place of safety...........................in order to change the wheel.

Anyway, back on topic......................

this company http://www.greentyre.co.uk/index.html are just round the corner from where i work (didnt know that until this afternoon :D) are developing and have the technology to make the rubber to go around those wheels in the picture.

I presume they dont have it to develop the wheels but purely by chance they ere n the local news tonight and on the footage of their factory floor there were some wheels that looked suspiciously similar to the ones under discussion here :thumb2

I had a look at Michelin site and they do do them though dont they:lol
That's a rubber wrap round the sideless things we've seen here:thumbs
The wheel is special too apparently:augie:)
