That was me collecting it earlier from Maidstone, what a trek!!!! Not long been home and going to lump it out of the garage tomorrow with a few of the neighbours :thumb2

I'll probably strip the old engine down to component level and sell it off for bits Rick so I'll let you know if it becomes available Rick

It's going to be interesting lumping it out of the back of the truck later by hand with my lads from the rapid response group on the estate lol!!!!

Going to need lots of ropes, a pallet underneath, even thought about sliding it down scaff bars down a kerb onto a pallet.

There will be pictures for sure :)

Terrance has finally been expelled of his heavy load!!!!

Me and a few of my bulky lads came around and gave me a helping hand getting it into the garage and we decided that as the engine was only 300kg ish we would double up on scaff boards and just skid it down on it's sump and if the worst came to the worst, I'll have a spare sump when the old one comes out :thumb2

It's going to be slid into the corner of the garage on it's pallet and I'm going to give it a new oil filter, belts, glow plugs etc etc and then switcheroo

Can't wait to get it out to a meet

Good work fellas. Looking forward to another quality thread:clap:bow

It's in my shed whenever you're ready Zac:lol

So while the engine is on the pallet, I'm going to try and level it off and work on it before it goes back into the truck.

I'd like to clean what I can get too easily without going too extreme and removing too much, maybe spruce the rocker cover up with a fancy paint job, swap the oil filter, swap the glow plugs and do the belts.

Is there anything else I should be checking guys and are there any resources that come trusted, tried and tested anywhere? Send me linkies

Discuss, thanks guys

I would be looking into the state of the inlet manifold while it is easy to get to, Rick

Not sure yet, but pulled the safety valve off of mine and it was full, stuck my finger in the hole and it came out with loads a yuck on it, so plan is when I get time to have it off and clean it up, Rick

Lets see some pics when you do it Rick so I know what I'm tackling :thumb2

A flushing of the water ways and a check of the hoses :thumb2

These engines must be kept from overheating with having an aluminium head, and the cooling system does tend to need to have to be flushed out.
That's what happened to mine, probably the start of my problems when I first bought it, everything seemed fine, but when pressure tested it was about 60-70% blocked.
Check the cooling system.

I need the download for the Patrol but Briggies link to the workshop manuals is down still, who was fixing the downloads?

Will I be able to inspect and flush with the engine off the truck sufficiently enough to clean it out?

I got the manuals for the Y60 and a seperate one for the RD28 engine, got them off the net cannot think where but I probably just googled it, Rick
