Damn thing's gone Pete Tong on me :doh
Went for a spin tonight in search of world ending weather:augie and the blasted motor wont pull like what it 'aughter.
Symptoms:
Accelerates slowly and if given flat down lead foot stuff it just seems to "Hunt" and almost switch off, then pull again, hunt ,etc Like driving a kangaroo.
Once over 3000 rpm dead it runs sweet again:augie What's that all about?
No MIL
No heating issues or odd sounds.
Running on mainly diesel at the mo, so not fuel.
New fuel filter fitted at the weekend.
EGR is dissarmed at the vac solenoid and the butterfly removed.
Oil blow by dissarmed too, and I know the I/C is as clean as a clean thing.
Help please as I NEED to go play at the weekend:naughty

maf, after 3000rpm, air mass exceeds ecu map.
if you creep up on it, very slow acceleration, does it seem better?
cold weather is a killer for mafs.
bosch or hitachi?

Ah that makes sense:thumb2
If I drive like Miss Daisy, then yes it will progress upwards, not as bad as safe mode though.
Hitachi MAF, the broody expensive ones:doh
I'll try a quick clean and report back.
Cheers:cool:

my maf is playing up too pete( think i told you that already :augie). think we found the one extreme raised air flaw.

expensive if you buy for a terrano!
get the same part for a primera and well, check on fleebay:)
brand new £75 ish
s/h £25 ish or less.

my real life test is go up a hill in 4th, one you would normaly do in 3rd, if fault is at its worse, well, maf.

you can also try diagnostic plugin tool, one recomended by other member logs data, so you can see input from maf.
i keep meaning to measure voltage on my new one, so other can compare.

Thats where the non intercooled one wins with no ecu or maf :D just as slow as fook

Good luck to you both on your search for a cheap maf :thumbs

Nope, sorry :(

I'm scanning ebay for ya both ;)

I have 2 Vitaras in stock at the mo but wont really be selling anything till summer next year as i want to build up a stock :thumbs

I've not had a chance to get to scrappy yet Colin:eek:
I'll try again tomorrow though:cool:

pete pop to tanygroes, I am sure you could pick one up for £10. I'm sure they would let you test it on your vehicle before you payed.

some p11 primera like terrano had bosch, so check part number match's.
bosch units fail due to self cleaning, which is overheating!
hiatchi dont self clean, so nead cleaning.

maf manufacture's recomend changing at 50k miles, but as unit pass's large current, it depends on engine runtime, you will be amazed at differance a new one makes, over scrappy one.

maf's the work of the devil??

Adz, how far is Romford from you? Just wondered if you could pick one up for me:augie
I cant cane it up hill like this:eek: I could be embarassed by an oval :lol
