Oh bugger we cleared the codes, and light has not been on since. Can I still plug in paper clip and bridge bottom left n right?

Nope, if you have cleared the stored DTC's then there gone.
There is always the possibility of new ones though.
This however is the best approch, clear the DTC's and then see what, if any return and work from there.

If it was anything to do with the actuator been stuck or jammed it would only cause an over boost and put the elm light on and go into limp mode :thumb2
Then it will reset turning ignition on and off.

My problems have been very erratic, infact reading some google forums on 4x4 forums (mainly diesel American lumps) ect people all point towards egr valve.

Symptoms do match. She smokes now on diesel (never smoked on veg)
Power is so on and off its unreal (even on same foot down run) so for example off traffic lights power can come and go several times before stopping, and changing gear then apply throttle again power can all of a sudden be available or boggy.
