I have to ask, as a bear of little brain, a simple 'tractor driver'......why all the dials and blingy thingybobs......do they really make lot of difference, when you are crawling through c##p at walking pace.....and if you spend so much time watching and fiddling with 'stuff'......you may not be looking where you should.......:nenau

2nd that, on my off road motor the only things I look at are the low fuel light, wired as second alternator (winch) warning and the rev counter, to see if engine still running, hearing problems! Rick

So what is this valve for? Rick

It's used in combination with a dawes valve Rick to take boost control away from the ecu to stop the zd30 overboosting once you blank the egr. Dawes valve sets max boost and the needle valve helps level out the boost and help keep it more linear.

It's the more sophisticated option compared to what I did which was wind out the stop on the vnt actuator to slow down the spool rate. Both have the same result of preventing the overboost after blanking the egr but the valves option will give more benefits if it's set up correctly :thumb2

Yup, What Rob said! :thumb2

I've listened to Rob chat about this in length on one of the meets and did some of my own research purely out of curiosity on some of the Aussie Trol forums and it sounds a good list of mods to be fair.

If it protects the engine then i'd certainly be doing it if I had a ZD30

No pictures tonight, but I did pull off the old intercooler and pipe work and popped in the EGR blanking plate... :)

You've all seen this before...

Now that the EGR is blanked, it's time to clean up and give this engine some room to breathe! :clap

Wow that Throttle Body is GUNKED!!!!

Might whip Grandads off and see what condition that's in before the MOT when I have it for servicing :clap

Keep the pics coming mate, I love the quality of work here

While we're doing dirty pictures... :naughty

Here's the underside of the old Intercooler!

This ones a bit cleaner...

This is the Air Intake Manifold after all the gunk has been cleared out.

I also removed the Swirl Valve Butterfly... This vacuum operated valve is for mixing the EGR's at low end Revs.

No need for it now the EGR valve is blanked... May as well have as much breathing space as possible! :thumbs

Because my "Bits" box was getting full and I feel like I have a bunch of unfinished projects on the car, I decided to put a few bits back in! :clap

First in was the Air Intake Manifold followed by the new Intercooler! :naughty

Well that went well....

Oh hang on, I have to shut the bonnet! :doh

The whole thing was about half an inch or so too high! (I'll fix that tomorrow!)

Last thing... Remember the D-Box I made in the 1st page of this thread?

Well I got that buttoned up in the passenger footwell too! :thumb2

Started off the process of fitting the snorkel today...

With the air box now out having to cut thru the three underside bolts, I took of the wheel arch and inner arch.

Next I undid all the bolts that hold the old air intake in place... Quite tricky with your hands inside the front wing.

With all the bolts out, the damn thing still didn't want to come out... :doh

I'm wondering if its spot welded in place or something?

There's sealant bud, just needs some beef once the bolts are all off :thumbs
