I'm going to reposition the the rear number plate onto the back door below the handle as i'll be fitting tow bar sockets where the number plate is now in time which will hopefully keep them cleaner & stop them getting ripped off when laning as i've done that before:doh
TBH I want the smallest light possible which doesn't stick out loads (OCD kicking in:lol) & found these http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/2-X-LED-N...08?pt=UK_Motorcycle_Parts&hash=item4ad2ad45fc do you think they would be upto the job or should I poss look at something else:augie

just done this to mine ,

i bent my tow bar electrics off roading

used a piece of checker plate to mount the sockets on where the number plate was ,

will post a pic tomorrow

problem i had was fixing the light inside of the back door ( limited access for tools)

i ended up sikaflexing a led motorbike number plate lamp to the door

and had to peel the terrano badge off and stick it back on higher up

Love to see the pic's:thumbs i've got some 6mm alloy checker plate in the shed aswell as some white 4mm acrylic which I was thinking of using as I can paint it to match the bumper for a more factory look:augie

I have a lot of those, I use them as running lights on my roof bar. I originally got them to do the same as you, but quickly decided they were not really up for it.

Also, they do pack up fairly easily, I have had 2 start flashing now.

I ended up using 2 of these, for a full length number plate, you could get away with one for a square one, and they are perfect.

I moved my sockets on to the rear bumper, just to the right on the step part so that they cleared the spare wheel.

Bud that's a nice looking misty, like the roof rails too as they look to have a different mounting to uk spec.

Cheers for the pic's guy's:thumbs had a look under the back bumper to see how the number plate bracket is held on today & mines going to drop off soon as the bracket/plate holder is bent & split badly:eek: thought it had a bump in the rear in the last few years as the metal work for the bumper looks very new:augie

I seem to remember the number plate bracket is held on by 3 pozi screws

Also put two eagle eye led's on there as reversing lights
Good for when you're hitching up at night

Forgot to ask:doh where did you guy's pick up your live feed from to power the new plate light ? from the back bumper or the wiring harness in the boot:augie

Pick it up off the loom in n/s rear wing . Just below the lights there's a multi plug connector thing. That's the easy place :thumbs

Fantastic cheers mate:thumbs will do the wiring at the same time as the towbar elec's

Well at long last I got around to getting a new number plate made up & mounted onto the rear door:D In the end I used the same LED light as Clive so cheers mate:thumbs but didn't like how the light looked being high gloss on the back door so sprayed it silver so it blends in better:augie

The old number plate bracket was badly cracked so had a go at plastic welding:lol turned out ok TBH but gave it a thick skim of fibre glass on the back & a light skim on the front to smooth it all out:thumb2 will mount my towbar sockets onto the bracket for now & see how things go, if it turns out to be to weak then i'll replace it with some metal:augie
