well done, i think sometimes it good to just take the plunge and learn as you go along. If you need any tips or advice ( I even have a few odd spares knocking about) give me a shout :thumb2

back from collecting it, bit of water damage where one of the seals has gone but nothing major, and considering we paid £0 for it it's a bargain :D

not bad for free eh!? not bad at all :clap:clap

Not bad at all!

If you can, check and reseal the rooflight - that is where most damp will get in - always gone on caravans!

We bought one years ago for £200, cured leak, replaced a window, tarted up and got £750 for it.

well this is going to be a project to do til i can pass my towing test thingy, something the kids can have input into aswell, for our first tin tent we are very pleased

looks good! I have owned and sold a few Monza's, the leak will probably be the seam below the Monza badge, or above the front window. Try and use proper none setting bedding sealant not silicone! if you must use silicon sealer make sure it is 'neutral cure' if it smells like vinegar it isn't and can corrode aluminium very quickly

or above the front window.

exactly where it is, spotted it as soon as i saw it, they have tried to use black sealent to cure the leak but he said in winter the cold kept cracking the seal, i've had a look inside and by the window the wood has gone a bit soft and peeling so will get that replaced then will seal it with melted tar :D

the last Monza leak I repaired was above above the front window, it belonged to one of my daughters so I did if for love :thumbs

just out of interest how easy is it to convert to have hot and cold water?

Might not need the tow test thingy. As long as the train weight (the gross weight of the car,ie kerbweight plus max payload) and the max laden weight of the caravan are under 3500 kg then no extra test needed

http://www.direct.gov.uk/en/Motoring/DriverLicensing/CaravansTrailersCommercialVehicles/DG_10013073

Category B vehicles may be coupled with a trailer up to 750kgs MAM (allowing a combined weight up to 4.25 tonnes MAM) or a trailer over 750kgs MAM provided the MAM of the trailer does not exceed the unladen weight of the towing vehicle, and the combination does not exceed 3.5 tonnes MAM.

For example:

•a vehicle with an unladen weight of 1.25 tonnes and a MAM of 2 tonnes coupled with a trailer with a MAM of 1.25 tonnes could be driven by the holder of a category B entitlement. This is because the MAM of the combination does not exceed 3.5 tonnes and also the MAM of the trailer does not exceed the unladen weight of the drawing vehicle

Not sure of the weight of your caravan but worth checking

unlaiden its 678kg i may give the dvla a ring tomorrow and enquire about it

Think the max weight for a LWB is 2580kg (thats the kerbweight plus payload) so if your caravan maximum weight is 920kg or under you will be ok.

Max weight of the car is on the chassis plate , max weight for the caravan should be on a plate by the door normally called MAM on older vans.

dont ya hate the way they screw more money out out of ya

I've met a lot of people who have taken the extra test so they can tow caravans or horse trailers who didn't have to.

Stupid law anyway just bought in to make money.

Having seen people stuck in Devon lanes because they didn't know how to reverse with a caravan and ended up causing problems for everyone else trying to go about their business I think a towing test it at least some form of training is a fantastic idea. I am an ex lorry driver but even if I was going to tow a caravan I would prefer to have some training.
