so it looks like th whole piece at the front of the van is going to have to be replaced, just hope i cut the hole for the window the right size :lol:lol

it is always worse than it looks! by the time it show inside it's probably been leaking for a long time

but, a reasonable DIY job and it doesn't have to be perfect, just use-able.

The challenge is to get it all done by the weekend :augie

well today i water proofed the seam on the outside where the water has been getting in will give it a 2nd coat tomorrow, i'm still waiting for the inside to finish drying out before work can continue in there.

no its a rubberized paint, it wont look as messy as that when i remove the masking tape

fair enough, but why not seal from the inside since youve go it all stripped out? as well as looking loads better it would probably be more efficient :thumb2

If you split any metal joints why not get some jointing compound something like Duralac or Hylomar. Not expensive, dead easy (and relatively clean) to use and will do the job brilliantly as well as subsequently allowing a bit of flexibility in the joint :thumb2

sorry should have said, the hylomar may be trade only if they still make it (the blue may work :nenau)

another product is tretite.

Im a bit poor on the trade names because we used to just get handed "part number 1234xy jointing compound 250ml" or similar :D

it is going to be sealed from the inside as soon as its dried out in there but i was bored so decided to do it from the outside aswell :lol

The only sure fire way of stopping it once and for all is to remove the aluminium trim, separate the joint and scrape it all clean, re-apply bedding sealant(I pay about £1.80 a tube), and re-assemble with new screws But your method should be pretty good :thumb2

well the rotton wood has been replaced

Think the max weight for a LWB is 2580kg (thats the kerbweight plus payload) so if your caravan maximum weight is 920kg or under you will be ok.

Max weight of the car is on the chassis plate , max weight for the caravan should be on a plate by the door normally called MAM on older vans.

Brian

there are 3 sets of numbers on my van on the plate by the door, 900kg, 75kg and 678kg, i'm assuming 678kg is unladen and 900kg is laden aint got a clue what the 75kg is for, today i also found this on a site that offers trailer towing training

be_flowchart.jpg

i'm still unsure whether or not i can tow legally though lol there are alot of different opinions on this, some people say if there is no picture of a trailer on the license then you can't tow and some people say you can depending on the weight :nenau:nenau
