We arrived back in Anchorage, which is one of only two cities in Alaska the other being Fairbanks in such a fast area, anyhow we drove down to Whittier, and had to drive through a tunnel under the mountain,no problem i hear you say! but, and there's always a but, the tunnel is used by a train as well, no problem i hear you say! but the road straddles the railway track, you have 30 mins to drive a mile in this narrow tunnel with high kerbs and one eye looking where you are going in the dark and the other eye on the wing mirror in case a f
efffin train is up your backside, no kiddin it was scarey. got on one of the touristy boats to go and have a look at the Glaciers about 60 but i'm not sure, amazing sight and the noise is deafening when a chunk falls into the water,it rained most of the time we were there.

And That's all folks for now, I am away to Devon in the morning for a week calling on cncfabs for a mirror for 52 plate.

Thank you for all your comments and i hope you have found the journey as interesting as i did, I would love to go back but in reality it's not going to happen,Alaska is truely the LAST FRONTIER if it wasn't for this man Bobby Jones it would have been another country on a map.

When i return from Devon i will photograph some artifacts i have belonging to Bob, but not the 3 old winchester' s that they wanted me to bring back,Wiseman folk could not understand why i could not bring them home on the plane, i told them i would end up in Guantanamo Bay it went clean over their heads, And then there is the Anchorage story! if anyone has seen the film with Tom Hanks "Terminal" I have lived it,more when i return..........

I appreciate the words and pictures. It has been a truly interesting thread.

Thanks

Alan

Fantastic...

I got all excited when I saw the Emerald Lake, as that was where I honeymooned, but then I realised it was not the same one, as mine was down in BC, near to Banff.
