The mileometer on my Terrano 2.7D (2000) sometimes fails to show a clear reading, at times the clock also. The digits seem to improve the longer the vehicle has run.

Is this likely to get worse - its been there for about 4k?

Is this guage serviceable, or will it need a complete instrument panel?

Many thanks.

Mine does exactly the same and has done for the past few years. Think the whole unit needs to be replaced to fix it - probably best just to live with it as it would no doubt be expensive to replace.
Seems to be a common fault with these vehicles.

it may help people if you could put your exact model in as some parts differ from model to model, mine been older, i have to old type odemeter, so i can not help much but i would guess if its eletcronic you may have to replace it, but perhaps somewhere out there is an eletronic company who repair this kind of thing :?: :?: :?: :?:

any warranty :?: all that work to find out it's the same or its got 1million miles on it  i agree with rag1873

My mileage meter has always acted as though something is pressing on the lcd part. thought about stripping it out to have a look!!

Mine started doing the same a few months after I bought it (4 years old at the time). Luckily i had paid for a used car warranty and it was replaced, but I had to pay £45 for a full electrical reset first before the warranty company would concider it. It cost over £300 for the full module alone (it required the entire dash to be replaced (all guages lights and LCD panel complete) as they could not just replace the LCD display.

The new one has started to do the same thing occasionally, just over a year since it was replaced. Needless to say, at £300+, it won't get done again.

A good thump on the to dash always used to do the trick, so if this one starts getting bad, that will be my chosen repair option
