Hi all. Hope someone can help here. The car is a ford maverick 2.7gls intercooled version. The original symtons were, a slight hunting on engine tickover. However after being laid up for a long while, the engine berely runs. After taking advice i have disconected fuel tank lines and run direct fuel via can and primer. What i have noticed for sure is that when squeezing the primer the engine runs ok so thinking def a pump fault. Pump is a zezel type. Additionally i have checked the resistance on no1 needle injector and it is open circut., however my mates car also reads open circut and his runs fine. I see from the manual the needle no1 should read 105ohms according to my manual. Is this enough to create the symtons of just about a tickover with no throttle response and then when you pump the primer the engine ticksover smooth and allows a throttle response almost like a fuel starve symton. Any help sure welcomed and indeed has anyone taken out no1 injector what size is the socket (as it looks like ill have to cut a long reach socket to clear wire takeoff).
 
ive taken mine off, i did a document on the subject but its pretty easy. You will certainly need to cut a long reach socket-just use a good quality one, and be accurate because the cut socket will flex when you apply the sort of pressure you will need to get the injector out, I had one try with mine and just got it right.

Could be a fuel injector issue, although its worth checking the filter and housing, see if pumping the primer goes hard, or remains soft.
 
27mm, you can get it off ebay for like £7 or cheaper

nope, my injector was so tight, i had to use a long 1/2" breaker bar and a lot of pressure to crack it loose.
 
Hi clivvy ive got the ridjid dribble tube type needle sensor injector dont suppose youknow where i could get one from other than dealers stealers that is
 
no 1 injector remval tool

I see you say 27mm is this the size . Is this the same for both types of injectors fitted to these motors. My injector but is multitip style rather than hex nut style and has the ridjid banjo dribble tube as opposed to flexible.
 
Could be the primer knackered.pump it with engine off if it stays soft when priming its dead.
 
I needed a 2ft breaker bar with a 2ft jack Handel sloted on the end, a total of 4ft and then I had to strain like hell to crack them off :D
 
Ok everyone injector is now out and now the hunt is on for a good ir working second hand one. Anyone got one?
