To be fair, I am pretty sure there are a lot of people on here running Veg who never post any problems. Alex is the only one posting lots up about it in a negative light, most of the rest just use it in moderation, enjoying saving a few quid, but still appreciating that Diesel is still the best option, and definitely the obvious "fall back" when you need to start fault finding.

I think everyone has said many times, Alex is probably pushing his luck, and trying to save too much money, by using too high a percentage of Veg, especially when he is experiencing running issues, so is seeing and posting Veg at it's worst.

When I got my T2, I stayed away from Veg for many months, until I had used the search feature on here, and gone back through reading everyone of the old posts on Veg and Bio. The easy conclusion from it was, enjoy it in the warm weather, but take it easy in the cold... There were a tonne of additives to try and improve things, but they all seamed to have as many negative issues as they did positive, and many almost undo the cost savings of adding veg in the first place.

The other week, I ran out of Veg, so was running neat Diesel, car definitely started better from cold on Diesel, but other than that, everything else was the same.

Yes spot on again Clive, I a cone to bring light all these topics and also to sure my views as i experiment white heavily with veggie as you all know, I love the stuff :lol

I am convinced there is will be a great way of running the stuff, and I plan to be the first to prove it, it will just take time. Bearing in mind ive already done 14,500 miles on the veg a lot of it neat in summer. To show for it I have a leaky pump where the seals have gone hard. Apart from that I have niggles a splash of diesel seems to cure, but I like t post my findings :thumb2

Wish me luck for the journey tomorrow morning :bow:bow:bow

Does a truck suffer wind chill? Thought it was just people and animals that suffer wind chill? Isnt it to do with the moisture on your skin evapourating in the wind?

Not sure.... but when I fitted an after market temp gauge to an old car a fair while back, they told you to mount the sender inside a sheltered place like the inside of the wing, or in the door mirror, so they read the actual temp rather than the wind chill.... I never questioned it at the time.

You have to take into effect speed and humidity here as well, when it drops to a certain temperature when a metal object passes through the air at a certain speed with the right amount of moisture in the air, water will build up on the surface.

This then drops the temperature of the object further because of the air passing over it, it will suffer from windchill effect, thus affecting Alex's tank :thumb2

The perfect example of this is my motorcycle, it runs without an oil cooler or without a radiator, solely air cooled, (used to have an oil cooler) when hot the revs increase to around 1400, when on the motorway when at speed pulling in the clutch and coasting at idle can drop the idle rpm and cool the engine quite nicely.

And!! Even better than that, who here has suffered with carburettor freeze before? Probably taking a step back in time, but I used to warm the bike up on a winters morning after nightshift, bike would be warm, ride home and mid way on the motorway the bike used to die!.... Come to a stop on the side of the motorway... oh no whats wrong.. :nenau then after 30 seconds she would start again perfectly, infact the carbs had frozen over, once stationary the heat from the engine would melt the carbs again :nenau

So yeah, windchill is a very important factor, also why lots of engines have fins on to cool better. In my case currently with a huge tank of veggie it will hinder me as whilst on the motorway the cold air will blow over all the fuel pipes cooling the veggie, thickening it, making it hard work for my poor fuel pump :doh

Hopefully cncfabs has a fuel pump too as I'm passing him this morning :lol

still running my mix of wvo.jerry can mix of 12ltr derv and 5ltr rug, then at home 80% wvo fully cold filtered and mixed with 20% fuel mix, mixed from jerry can and shook in clear container,at least 2 days befor i need it,then held up to light to look for drop-outs,none so into tank.
as soon as i turn key walla a started ticking over t2.
i leave a 2ltr pop bottle out to see what it is doing in freezing weather.
i run this mix all year.
i even ran a lucas pump on this mix for many thousands of miles with no probs.
this works and saves me a fortune.

Mine runs better the warmer the engine, has have heat exchanger fitted.

I fill up at either Esso or Shell and now cost coming down it is only £110.00 for a tank full no mixing no shaking just fill and drive, hoping that the cleaners and other additives in the fuel are doing what they are meant to do to protect my engine and prolong it's life.

To be fair my commute to work is only 2 miles so not high weekly mileage for me meaning only small savings to change fuel.

Kind regards

Russell

Fuel prices I heard will be coming down even more.and rumours say it may even be below a quid a litre soon.why bother with veg at those prices.

i said ages ago the mil light comes on because of the using veg oil, it does it on mine, so i would just like to say...........told you so :p :lol

what you on about its called diesel Einstein :doh :lol :thumbs

I run svo on and off, At the moment with temps and fuel prices been on diesel only. But veg oil will slowly drop with price of fuel, so will go back on it when the savings become similar to before.

But I also only run rapeseed oil with some petrol to thin it and a little diesel to help it burn! Also to consider my truck cost me 750 pounds and it's a 96 plate! Not a 04 plate that's cost like 3-4k like alex's.

I have read too many issues with trucks running soya crap.

Alex why don't you just reseal your pump? You don't even need to remove it from the car I did a write up and how to guide but it never ended up in the downloads so I just email it out or do a search and you will find it.
I'm still running svo 5% petrol mixed in out of the tank to thin it I'm buying my next 100 litres of svo tomorrow and will make my devils brew up I store it out side now days don't have any problems here
