Hmmm, I wonder if there is a bigger or uprated pump that will go on 2.7, or a way to upgrade it.

Never really looked further afield mate as the Bosch seems like a solid pump to me, mines good so far and gets a hell of a lot of veg abuse, don't worry about the scaremongers, I've done over 100,000 miles now on veg :clap

Now that's one I've never seen a definitive answer to myself but it's supposed to weaken the seals in the IP and make it leak, I have heard of companies that will take your pump and reseal it with "Veg proof" seals though, I have a pump off at the moment and when I know mine is starting to fail I'm going to have the seals done and swap it on :thumb2

How easy is the pump to swap? I saw a post or two in the past that seemed to imply they were so-n-sos to "time", but I have no idea what that involves either.

I've heard the exact same thing mate, I'm sure panelbeater did one and he seemed to think it wasn't too hard

yes mate,i could have knocked it out in a few hours if i was still fit and able.
replace the seal with vitton if you have to.
i am old school and used wvo for many many years even on a lucas ip without trouble.10s of thousands of miles.
my wvo inc the fuel mix i put in is no more than 35pltr.
i am lucky to have a 1200ltr storage tank with lots in it so its well settled and stood.
new oil is easier.i collect more than i use.
wvo is cheaper and mine dries and filters while i am away with van.
only filter at the time you need it.
i nearly got caught out 2 weeks ago as i filled to brim for a van trip and next night temp plummeted so i had a job starting but a bit of easy start soon cleared it and as tank level went i put rug and derv in so all was well.
in fact temp was upto -3.9 for one the week.
away again next week so put 75ltr in green t2 and 60lts in blur t2 as going to the smoke tomorrow to see my daughter then lunch out at a carvery and onto Croydon to collect 2x180a new heavy duty batteries i will use fot van trips.
incerdentley i changed a front ip seal on bosch ip on a bx and changed pump on t2 both ran on derv.

vegetableoildiesel.co.uk the guys on there are super brainy.just reg and set up yourself but search search and search the site first before asking something.

Yeh, was just a thought, I doubt I'll ever do anything to the rest of the engine that ip cant keep up with :naughty

100k eh, good to hear mat!

I put some more in today cos I was runnin a bit low, tickover lumpy for a second when coming off the revs, when stoppin at a junction etc, put £6 of diesel in and no probs now. I reckon I'll be able to £20 diesel in and rest oil and run ok, trial and error tho :thumb2

Panelbeater, you sound like a very busy man!!
Leisure batt is something I'll be getting for my van soon, mines just about had it, someone told me to get a banner.
Maybe some ip's just leak and some are ok, I'll just keep an eye on mine but I think I'll be sound, not losing any sleep anyways, cheers man :thumb2

Do you have a motor mover on your Caravan?

OK, I was just going to give you a warning over getting the right battery, but not something you need to worry about.

Thanks clive, as always tho any info is welcome, I might start another thread in caravan and towing, its something that interests me :thumb2

i have a leisure 120a battery in van but the 2 i collected today are for the back of t2 to run 2kw inverter to plug into van mains in as i go in winter so 4 solar panels on van roof do not give me enough power so when van power drops to 11v i plug mains in to t2 inverter so charges van battery and gives me extra hours when dark or dull.
i had a tyre lose shape on way to croydon today, first tyre in about 30 years that changed shape really bad wobble..good old rac.
had a tread come away on van tyre once though.

If you have two spare batteries with you would it not be easier to just have a extension lead from the van to the spare batteries? Get a bigger alternator fitted to the t2 so when you go out it charges the batteries better? Run a split charge into the boot :thumb2

Just make sure battery in the t2 is vented to outside, and well fixed in
The gas explodes and the acid makes a mess in a crash

only want spare for mains,as wont pay site charges and often where no mains is so independent.
rear door left ajar when inverter on so gasses can vent.
ran last winter and early season this year and worked ok,but the old t2 battery was not man enough.just had the chance of 2x1150ccc batts for 50 so had to have them, drop tested them and both ok.
its so i can use electric kettle, toaster etc.
batts get charged when i drive,
i have a 1000w inverter in van i can use direct for mains as well.
solar gives me 35amp,well the meter says so, direct when sun is above so when kettle on meter shows amps going in at time of use.
when i move to a static type home i will put all i have learnt into that.
