put some derv in today and the truck was fine on the way home, wife went out, parked up, and was in a shop for about 20 mins, when she started up the "mil" light came on and truck went into limp home mode, done the light check and have fault code 34, (injecter needle lift sensor), can someone help? as i cant look through workshop down load for some reason, it keeps freezing, what and where is the sensor??, :nenau:bow

thanks tezzer.:thumb2

Hmm - me and others got that too. No 1 injector needs replacing complete with the relevant sensor. Going to cost £150-200 depending where you get it. Mines been like it for months. Down on power and knocks like a good un when cold - really must stump up the money and do it.

the truck seems to go ok, until light comes on and go's into limp mode, on starting from cold is no problem, but if i rev engine there is a slight misfire, but no misfire on road, i changed the air, fuel filter last week, and on friday no 4 injecter spill plug split, so i changed all the pipes as they came as a kit, and now this problem has risen it's ugly head. :doh:thumb2

jugged a wire or something id guess

give the connectors a good wiggle back on

i checked the ohms reading on no 1 injector and found it dead, so have now removed the said injector and off to get some prices, had one price of £156inc vat, but 3 days for delivery, got another shop to try now, update later. :doh

update, got some prices for a new injector, nissan £372.00 +vat,, injection services £178.20 inc vat,, euro parts £150.00 inc vat,:thumb2, i did explain it was christmas and good will to all men and all that, should have been £168.00 ,inc
so i ordered and could have it thursday afternoon or friday morning, :naughty

I had to have mine replaced a couple of weeks ago. It was an expense I could have done without at this time of year, but it's the first time the Mav has cost me ANY money other than for upgrades/improvements/servicing, and it's made a substantial difference to engine smoothness, available power, and most importantly, my MPG has risen significantly:clap

thanks p40mrt, your comments help relieve the shock of spending out, i would'nt normaly mind, but just before xmas, :doh, and i have had bad mpg, changed filters and front hubs and i noticed a difference, so with the new injector it can only get better. :thumb2

Is that the price for ONE injector? If so , what happens to the others?:augie
Is there a check you can do before it/they stop squirting:thumbs
I like the sound of extra power:naughty

I rang deisel bob not so long ago about modifying injectors for more power:sly
He said the terrano wasnt do-able:augie
Not sure if that goes for a rebore though:eek:

well i asked the guy in injection services, he said he has repaired one before but the new parts are expensive, and he said it's not worth the bother, no1 injector is £372.00 +vat, i dont know how much the others are, i may even get the other 3 reconned after xmas. :naughty

cant these injectors be fixed.

It's not the injector itself its a little sensor on the top of it that fail - only no1 has one. The other three are relatively cheap.

The sensor allows the ECU to detect when injection is actually happening rather than when it tells the pump to inject. There is a delay in the system and that leads to inaccuracies in the injection timing. The sensor stops this inaccuracy. My sensor is down at the moment and it knocks like an old transit on start up when cold, where normally these (later) engines are pretty quiet with negligible knock.

Mines still running pretyy well and would compare it to 300TDi in Landy terms where normally its quicker than a TD5 - really must get it fixed.

Hi Guy's,
give me some details and I'll see what I can do. As I am Ooop North thing seem to be considerably cheaper and I also have a friendly motor factorist who will do me things almost at cost (due to me finding out who stole many thousands of £'s of his stock and them getting nicked!!). If a few people want these could get deal on job lot. There's also a diesel wizzard not far from me so keep your old parts he may be able to use a magic wand or something.

Regards Steve

The actual part for mine (No.1 injector/sensor) direct from Bosch in Germany coz my friendly expert (and he's very tame!) couldn't track any down with his suppliers was about £200 including VAT.

Thought I saw injectors in Milners, but I have just checked and they dont have them !

John
