Clive, I know you were 36.

I was just wondering what the limits were for allowing the option of a course.

I was doing, ahem, 49 in a 30.....he put me down i believe for 36 or 38 for the course, i can check, so the guy was very reasonable in my opinion, and yes, i felt very stupid indeed. Renault 5. didnt think it was possible.

Clivvy, the camera must of been at the bottom of a very steep hill....:lol:lol:lol

Lots more where these come from :(

From someone who is called when the shit has happened removing peoples sons, daughters, wives and husbands bodies from cars. Picking up the body pieces off the road. These camera's are there because WE motorists speed. If we did not then they would not have installed them.

Off soap box.

He didn't want his mates back at the nic taking the micky, they would have thought he was joking. :lol :lol

Could have been worse for him, it could have been a Citroen 2CV, he would probably let the driver go.:doh

What Daved said :thumbs agreed BUT I'm happy to say I've taken plenty of hits in person with Mr Plod and fair enough I was caught red handed.
However the miles of cameras on motorways and big roads etc etc bla bla, enough already. I'm just pointing out that with a little creative enquiery with the safety camera gestapo there a few ways of increasing ones odds of er well er being spineless:sly
Suffice it to say I wasnt driving my car recently and challenged the photo because it only showed the car and had no surrounding road or markings:augie
Who ever the driver was that day got spinless:D
Another occasion I wasnt driving the car a motorway camera caught my friend who'd been visiting from abroad, so far he's had no post card from t'management:D
I believe "speeding" is wrong but traveling quickly safely is fine if you're safe:p
So there :wasntme

its only £30 and you got to get caught 4 times before your on the bus:lol
i dont think the punishments hard as we know what it is before we put the foot int carpet. one of the reasons i bought my trol was to slow down. i mowed a dog down and the same week overtook a copper at £85 but i think he was going to work

the notice says £60 and 3 points

still £60 isnt the end of the world is it. how often do you get caught?

As pointed out above, roadside casualties are cited as the reason for cameras being deployed. Thats a very valid point i dont like pickng up the bits either nor delivering the death message. But where theyve gone wrong with cameras seems to be randomly deploying themas a preventitive measure. One thing they dont measure or record is dangerous driving.

Very good example of random enforcement of speed limits is on a road near us where I got nicked. They changed the limit (dropped from 50 to 30) with little or no notice, actually moved the signs to a less prominent position AND backwards so you were into the zone earlier.

I was annoyed but took the points , paid (i was a cock missing the signage :nenau ) then did some digging.

Essentially the speed limits and signs had been changed because it seemed like a good idea to someone, there had not been any recorded collisions, no complaints from the two residents and no other recorded problems at that location. I reckon kerchinggg came into it.

So many complaints were made guess what.................it was changed back and people are now safely driving at a higher speed with no notable problems. If it happened there itll be happening elsewhere.

I can quite understand how motorists get very frustrated with the cameras there is a time and a place to make good progress, the failure of our system is enforcing the standards to make sure people are capable of driving as opposed to just making a car move irrespective of the max speed.

The annoying thing is , it gives you the option to " view alledged offence " ... They provide you with a pin number and a reference ..... I tried to view it ......and i got the message " the details you have entered do not match any data records we hold " ..... Before anyone asks , yes i did input the details correctly .... Im only allowed 3 attempts before it stops me

Eh eh wait up a minute here, Ive got a very nice plum and custard "h" reg 2cv and its more than capable of losing me my licence, its my summer car and very much loved and a good talking point on any trip out on a sunday. Someones got to keep these iconic (dont laugh or I will just sulk) on the roads, Number 12 before the end of production, 31500 miles from new, On a classic policy and dont laugh valued at £9750.00, turned down 9k 18mnths ago,

Always the butt of many jokes but I dont mind really, its fab at cornering and can really turn your knuckles white and your pants brown if you aint use to it. :clap :clap :clap :clap

i love classic cars, awesome to read you have such an iconic motor but actually USE it! My otherhalfs dad has an old Beatle 1200, 30 odd year old, and it gets driven about 100 mile a year. in the 11 years ive known him, i havent ever been out in it, ill be sorting that out next year when its dry!

Good points there Daved
It's the arbitary way one gets nicked that Pees me off:eek:
On the M4 near Portalbot there's a two lane section that's a 50 mph zone, always has been since built. No idea why that bit is any different to the bit before and after it:augie Anyway there was a speed cash camera there for years, but everyone new it was there. Result, everyone slams on the brakes just before the camera:doh Consequence, rear ends all the time:( So now the camera has been removed and hey presto smooth flowing traffic and no accidents(well as far I know):)

it was 50 as it was residential , albeit on a bit of motorway that was on the fly over so not likely to have kids or alike playing chicken .... but thats why apparently.

removed on one way but still working on the other. again cos of its proximity to the houses.

but moaning on all of newport m4 is 50 now.
its like a blanket speed restriction on all of newports motorway...... a law to themselves i guess

bloody numpties ..... i recon it could only happen here,

the home of stupid pointless ideas.

my fave being the NHS the biggest financial burden on the country ever... and almost uselss

or that tw at in charge of gog fuzz.

or maybe its just the way of the world now
