:eek::eek:

Id be very careful using that as a defence. Knowingly using an unroadworthy vehicle and all that sort of stuff.

Do what most of us do, take the points (or the course) onwards and upwards :thumb2

Excellent point dave, I remember a mate saying after getting pulled twice ib 2 wks.

"well when I got stopped last week the policemen told me to get it fixed as soon as possible but my wifes been in hospital so I havent had the time" so policemans reply was " so you admit to using the vehicle whilst visiting your wife in hospital then "

What do they say " banged to rites"

Pete, isnt there something where you can ask to go on a "speed aware course" where you pay a fee and the fine but dont have the points on ya licence. Dont know much about these as Im frugal with juice (seen as I have to pay for it... lol) and the lead weights been thrown away, years ago lol.

Karl, are you taking note, surreal as we were talking about speed only the other day, these cameras are the absolute pits and a few have been burnt down around here,

Maybe worth a trip to the cop shop pete and ask in advance, you know do the good citizen thing,

i know but sat nav knows where they all are lmao even the ones where the coppers sit in the hedge (dont know how that one works tho):nenau

wasted of time :(

the cameras will be run by the "camera safety partnership"

Dave please explain cause a couple of the lads who do trunking for the firm I work for occasionally have been on these and Im pretty sure it would of been cameras, as human nature being what it is the security guard would of said "have you heard about thingy, the police stopped him for speeding etc etc" Whats the score then dave????

ahhh..........not sure about that one then :nenau

In some areas, ours included, its a "partnership". Our local one was funded from god knows where (not police) and employed local authority managers and cops for the statutory bit. If you sat and watched, but that would be very sad, you'd see non police actually collecting film from the non digital networked ones in some areas.

is that what you meant Monty?

Thanks Daved that explains it, theres one around here, they do it regular, BUT they were caught out by the fact there wasnt a 40 warning sign within 100 yrds of the camera, and around 30ish people had their fines qoshed, as Solarman said its things like this that are the loop holes, but seen as we aint all celebs then I still think its worth a shot down the cop shop and see if they will put Petes name forward before he is convicted. the most that can happen is they say "NO"

no it doesnt. its a physical impossibility ;) rely on it and you will get nicked.

What it does tell you is where someone has potted a camera and recorded the location which is then stored in your "alarm" database.

Youre relying on regularly updating that database and the contributors accuracy :thumb2

Three examples of how it goes wrong,

1, mine still pings up for where the specs cameras were on the A1 about a year ago, when i last updated.

2. some pillock recorded the traffic light camera near us as a speed camera AND put it at the wrong speed limit

3.the speed camera operator tries out a new spot :lol:lol:lol:lol:lol:lol:lol

My brother in law has just been on one of those courses, he had a ticket saying he had been photographed at "0" miles per hour and the photo showed his front wheel on the white line at the lights, my son had the same thing on his push bike when he was booked at the front of the lights with his wheel over the line whilst waiting for them to change....... money making or what? Not a criminal or safety issue but of course the council do collect the money...regards bri

not sure what you mean?
Forget this dave I was too quick on the keys, what I was going to say was that a couple of the lads of a firm I do occassional work for have been on these courses and I would assume its would be cameras (fixed) that would of caught them as it would of been all around the yard if the police had of pulled them, any info to try and get Pete off would be good Ill have a word with them and see what the procedure is

i turned the stupid alarms off as it done my kin head in the speed camera could be in the road off the motorway and it would still bloody beep at me and its such a high pitched beep it was just silly

ah mines on auto update every time the pda is plugged into the pc/lappy

as said above i dont actually speed and will only do speed limits on motorway and thats still off by about 5mph according to sat nav :thumbs

pete get a road angel and take that mistrel out of sport lol

of course if you could prove your car had or could have been cloned,
then it would be fair to assume you was not you and / or could not know who was driving the clone vehicle.

but you would need 2 cars the same showing the same plates parked next to one another in the same photo.

its a long shot, but not beyond the possibilities of an owners club.

just dont let the fuzz know what we are up to :augie:augie:augie

I was offered one of these "courses" when I was flashed doing 36 in a 30 zone - still costs £60 but you don't get the points on your licence, and if you don't have the points on your licence you don't have to declare it when applying for or renewing insurance, it's a no-brainer really. Trouble is you can only do this course once in 3 years, so a radar detector was my immediate purchase after the course.

agreed :thumb2

the quashed convictions refer mainly to the early days of the cameras.

Early automatic prosecutions clicked off at the speed limit plus 10% , ie 33 in a 30. So at 33 youd be nicked. A lot of people whod got caught in the 30 to 33 were acquitted.

So then they switched to 10% + 2mph. That binned the margin for debate.

Therefore you'd get prosecuted 36mph upwards.

However some areas have new dumped the national guidance of 10% +2 and start to prosecute at speed +10% ie 34mph.

One of the arguments for that is that your speedo should never under read.

If youre at the 10% limit of innacuracy youd be the other direction and doing 27mph. Thats one reason most UK market cars do over read. Puts you into the safer bracket both licence and safety wise :thumb2
