WOULD HAVE LOVED A PATROL BUT THE MILAGE I DO I COULDNT AFFORD TO RUN ONE.

I don't know what annual mileage you do - but I do about 15000 miles a year. Insurance and fuel costs of my LWB 05 Patrol 3.0Di SVE are very close to those of the Isuzu Trooper I've had for the last 100K miles and 7 years. I get about 25mpg overall. Insurance is identical, within a couple of squids a year.

I'll be towing a 1500kg caravan to Killin (Loch Tay) at Easter - it'll be interesting to see how towing affects diesel comsumption.

Cheers
Andrew

i reckon my things better on fuel than my ol 2.7tdi an i thought that good!

Hello IanDouglas,
154,000 miles on the Disco now and 180,000 miles on the Terrano.

Do you think that the Disco will overtake the Terrano for miles or not?. Only 26,000! to go.

Will the Disco cope with the miles that you do daily as well?.

I think it may stand a chance but lets just wait and see.

I think this will be good for us to compare the two as both are high mileage and both will need spares, Lets see how they do.

Mav.

Any reason for Killin andrewk, I stared fish farming on loch Tay, aint so far from home!

update checked what i had writen it should have read 150,300 .so gained already.
I WENT TO LEICESTER TO WORK TODAY .FIRST I CHECHED OIL AND WATER .NEEDED 1/2 PINT SO TOPPED UP WITH ANTIFREEZE.HALF A CUP OF OIL AND I STILL OVER FILLED IT BY 1/8" ON STICK. ITS DUE FOR A SERVICE SOON SO WILL BE SORTED THEN.

THE DRIVE TO LEIC` was done at a steady 55 mph @. 2,ooo rpm.
according to sat nav and speedo which reads accurate after having big tyres fitted.

i think i wil be there all week so will do a fuel /mpg test .it cost me £70 to fill to the brim

a bit of rear diff noise , and steering box needs a tweak was the only things that i became aware of apart from the much bettter ride in the disc.
I AM NOT SLAGGING THE TERRANO HERE ITS JUST THE DIFFERENT SIZE AND WHEEL BASE .Although the disco has had a new seat base .
MY BUM DONT QUITE FIT YET BE ALRIGHT WHEN IVE RE MODELED IT A BIT "read squashed"
i dont have to bang the door to get the window down on the disco :?

BUT the dash squeekes till it warms up a bit.

has anyone else had a disco .? what are your thoughts.
rgds.

Lucy DADS OLD PATROL STILL ON ROAD NEVER BROKE DOWN AND ALLWAYS GETS HOME.

He didn't sell it because it was a bad motor.. It was personal reasons.

It did brake down a bit though.. alternator.. starter motor, battery and other bits while out with club on several occassions, all cost a small fortune.

So Ian .... Do you have a picture??

As for a name why not pudsy! with pudsy bear on dash as mascot lol

A few reasons ........

* I've stayed at Cruachan farm, which is near Killin, a couple of times before - including last Easter. We thought it might be a bit far to travel at Easter, but last year the weather was great and we really enjoyed it

* It's central to lots of places that we like.

* I'm a member of UKCS (UKCampsite) and they were looking for somewhere to go this year. There was a fair amount of discussion on the UKCS forum and a joint decision made to go to Cruachan farm. A few of us met there last year - so we'll probably be meeting some friends there.

* We just wanted to go away at Easter, didn't fancy North Wales again - and it was the first place to come to mind

* Clachtoll in Sutherland is over 500 miles away, so too far really or we'd go there instead.

Dunno really ..........

Cheers
Andrew

Ian

Sounds like a bit of a good deal for £2.5K.
There are lots of mods for them so you should have fun adding all the bits and bobs.

As soon as you get any photos post them.

Can members please keep the Disco / Land Rover posts to this thread.

Mav.

Mav, if i get a disco can i be a moderator please  , or maybe if i get a range rover shares in the club

I dont have a nissan 4x4 at the moment but i am looking for an early D21,I would like one old enough to be a Datsun as a project.

HI.
WELL I HAVE DONE 175 MILES NOW. SO FAR SO GOOD.
THE DISCO DUCK as i now call her
Apparently you can get a lot of water in the boot erea mine is dry at the moment but if the gutter seals or alpine window seals fail i may have to call her the DUCK DISCO
You could get a lot of ducks in there its a shock when i turn round to see all that room .
At work today i checked diff oils and sprayed the Hi- Lo -Diff lock box with easing oil "the linkage rusts up due to not being used"
rear diff needed almost 1/2 a pint + front an egg cup full.
been checking oil and water and all is well. :p
whilest under neath i found a rear bump stop missing and an exhaust (U) clamp RUSTED RIGHT THROUGH .
LATEST MOD FOR DISCO IN NEED OF A DOWN PIPE .
IS TO FIT ONE OF A L-R 90 (NO CAT) SO AIDS PERFORMANCE A BIT.
I HAVE PUT A SMALL PEBBLE IN THE EGR VACUME PIPE so disabling it
normal dodge is to blank egr off and sling it.
they say it improves low down torque ,did seem to pull better at very low revs in traffic tonight. will change up at 1500rpm this in 4th gear =30 mph
fuel consumption looks good not done any figures yet but max rpm has been 2,600 not far of 70 mph.
steering box needs adjusting to much free play same set up at terrano to adjust.
FINALY GOT RADIO OF RADIO ONE AND ONTO FOSSLE FM aka radio two

So Ian will we be seeing her next laning you do?

HI PAUL .
All being well with The Disco Duck. i am hoping to ease her into it.
She`s never been off roaded ,although front and rear bash plated and oversized bf goodridge a/t fitted. and jackal Hi Lift jack came with her.
the previous owner was going to do a foreign experdition and has started to modify her. then the children came along.
so used as a chelsea tractor for next 2 years only time off road was on his lawn.
so the old girl will be in for a shock when she meets leeside road.
must not mention STANNAGE or i think she will die of shock.
keep an eye on posts of a future lane day.
