Just testing the water for now but would anyone be interested in a green laning weekend away, say perhaps Yorkshire Dales, Patley Bridge way but maybe Derbyshire. Arrive Friday night, go out laning Saturday day and perhaps a little on sat evening for something different, a BBQ too on sat night weather permitting and then on sunday go out and do some more lanes till just after lunch to give people time to get back at a decent hour. Just a rough idea of an itinerary, open to ideas, the point is would people want to come. Laning could be as easy or as difficult as we want within reason, perhaps run different routes for different groups. Anyway anyone interested.

Nice one Hummingbird, Depending on work,
I might be able to support you maybe not for a whole weekend but possibly for a day.
See what response you get and then start looking at venues and dates.

GREEN LANEING weekend

hi .hb.
sounds good to me but depends on dates ,would have to bring the dogs (all three of them) if we come for the weekend .
rgds.iandouglas and sheila

Dependant on dates, its a go from me and the Boss indoors, and I'm sure Ladyinred would like to come too.

If a beer and BBQ then maybe we can fetch Stressman, his wife and my Grandkids and make a family do of it.

Ok, there seems to be enough interest to make this a goer.

After some initial looks over the maps I think Wensleydale looks good, theres plenty of lanes with a suitable distance and theres a few other things o do in the area for anyone who doesn't want to spend the whole weekend laning - the Wallace and Grommit cheese factory for one

I'll start doing some work on campsites in the area, it will need to be a site that take both vans and tents as not everyone has a caravan.

I think september would be a good month as the schools will be back so less people will be away which should lead to more of us being free and more space available on sites.

Those of you working shifts, have you got them that far in advance? If so can you let me know what weekends you can/can't make it and I'll try to pick a weekend that works for as many people as possible. Also if anyone else has anything on in september and there's weekends they can't do let me know.

Get together.

Hello Hummingbird.

Looks good and plenty of interest too.

If you get a good response as you seem to be getting at the moment may i ask if there is any possibility that you may be able to turn this into a mini meet for members that not necessarily want to go green laning and just fancy a weekend break and a chance for some of our more northern members to get together to meet and have a few beers, B.B.Q, and a chat?.

Well done Hummingbird for the effort you are putting into this.

Regards. Mav.

Sounds a good idea, once a weekend and a site are in place I might wish to hand over the over daytime activity organisation to someone who won't be green laning, but we'll cross that bridge when we come to it. Perhaps we can turn this into something a little more than a mini meet a second (northern) National event or something along those lines - but again we'll see.

What I need now is some dates from people for september, and in the meantime I'll start looking for a suitable site.

My brother in law is getting wed that weekend, so couldn't make bank holiday - a weekend in Septemebr would be more practical for me.

I also think sep would be better, it wouldnt be so busy, I work shift patterns, as soon as I know them I will let you know.

BTW well done for trying to cover all aspects and meet everyones needs.

I've not been green laning yet and would like to give it a go so long as ok to bring dogs. I work every weekend but can book time off if I can give 4 weeks notice. September better than ABH wknd.

Good on yer for wanting to give it a go, dogs are welcome. As a Lady you'll not be the only one turning up, my daughter Ladyinred also comes along and helps me run green lane events. There are also many wives turn up and plenty now drive off road too. So don't be afraid to try things out.

mid to late sept is possible for me and now i have a caravan the weather is not so critical.

cant do bank hol weekend as i am in paris on my 10th wedding anniversarry
