Hi all, just thought i would pick your brains again on this matter...since i filled up on bio the startups seem a little more smoky...

Also I came out to my T2 this morning, a little ice on the windscreen and the motor really struggled to start is this due to the bio, should i try mixing it with some diesel will this help?
Better clear up the terminology here first.
Are you running with Vegi oil OR Bio as in reclaimed oil with additives like methanol and winter warmers etc?
If veggie oil then it will be a lumpy start in the cold, so as Zippy says add more diesel AND make sure your glow plugs are in top form:D
If you're running bio then you should have no probs till about -10 . UNLESS you've got some without a winter additive.:augie
Mine's on bio and I've no issues and run it neat 82p a liter and was fine through last years -16 weather:naughty

The place i bought it from referred to it as bio diesel and heating oil....so it may not have a winter additive...i will top it up with normal (expensive) diesel as i have used about half a tank so far.

Would it be worth replacing the glow plugs? Is it an easy job and is it an expensive job?

I got my fuel from a place in Bradford that makes it...

Yep replace your glow plugs just to make sure:thumbs
Did you buy an IBC of the stuff or are you buying tankfuls? Any decent maker this time of year should have winter additive in it. Complain:eek:
If you've bought an IBC of it then just get some winter warmer off flea bay and stick it in:D
How much is Bradford bio charging?

What sort of job is it to replace the glow plugs?
What should i expect to pay for a set?

I bought it by the tank full, it cost me 95p per litre, i put in 62 ltrs and it cost me £59.00

What is the additive would it be worth sticking some in my tank with my fuel?

if hes sellin heating oil maybe its keresene? which i believe is drier/not so oily as diesel so no good for pump lubrication? i may be wrong so dont rush into owt lol!

does bio smell like normal diesel? I wouldn't have thought so :nenau

when cold you need a bit o diesel..

summer is fine, I run 100% vegie then. but at the mo 2/3 to 1/3

where you get your Bio from?

Since my fuelling fook up I'm on 100% diesel but will go to Bio & or Veg during the summer with a splash of diesel ( 20% ) :thumbs

Howz your heater coming on  :augie

run it on just about anything i can bio tends to run a little hot as and when i can i run a filterd mix of used cooking oil and derv runs ok and get on a run at 56-60mph around 32mpg. and that is under load aswell.....

I think everybody will be interested to begin with and we could probably club together in areas to build kit and share the goodness. Need to start a 'bio' thread. I'm certainly interested :thumbs

Hi guys just read this thread and there is a place near me that sells bio diesel :)

So can I run my 2001 2.7 TDI on it without damaging the pump ?
