Front pipe just snapped off at back of flexi joint.local tyre and exhaust want £120.can get one for £45. daughter supposed to be towing caravan to norfolk tomorrow so a case of dad can you fix it.
anyone done one, whats it entail please.its a 96 2.7 td.

Just had mine replaced, second one I have had. I let my garage do it, cost £130 fitted.

The difficult part is removing bolts or studs from the maifold end . The first time the bolts snapped and had to be drilled out. Second one they had to heat up the bolts unscrew the whilst red hot. Not an easy task.

Sorry for the bad news perhaps mine was more difficult than normal.

Its sods law mine broke as I was about to take my wife to Machester eye hospital for surgery a round trip
of over 160 miles.

I have have made that trip four times and the back box split!
The exaust system is now all renewed and the eye is improving so alls well as the say,

Good luck( as the eye surgeon said to my wife last time we saw him)

Regards. Bri

It will def come past the front prop and crossmber but its very tight will require a bit of swearing but easier than undoing the prop:thumbs

Hi Spudd,

I cut and past the text below from a post I did in February 2012, hope it helps....

This question was asked recently and has been partly answered here I.e a bit of fiddle to get at, with the of potential problem of siezed bolts at the manifold end.

I did mine in the summer and snapped a stud, but was lucky enough to be able to remove the stud.

Get the car as high off the ground as you can, and remove the passenger side front wheel. The manifold bolts will be right in front of you. You will be able to undo two of them easily from here. Next get under the car and take off the short propshaft, which will allow you to get a long extension bar and universal joint socket thing onto the bolt at the rear. Also having the propshaft out the way makes removing the old and feeding the new pipe in much easier.

Mark the propshaft so it goes back on exactly the same. I got this advice on this forum and apologise for repeating it again.

Good luck.

Alan
