Went to the local offroad site at the weekend

So, I recently treated myself to membership of the local offroad site's members club. Unlimited access whenever you want :thumb2

Took a trip up there on Saturday, barely covered a quarter of the site in 1.5hours! :D :sly

Some flex shots for Alex (got her on 3 wheels) :lol

First steep bank I found, Foxy marched straight up it

This was a lot steeper than it looks

Few marks from the diffs catching on the way down

20141004-175112-zps49cdf154.jpg

Decided I'd leave this one for the pure offroaders that some of the members keep on site

Should I go up it?

There were a lot of sounds of chassis and diff housings scraping on rock... I love that sound!

Still part of the site. You can actually see the tracks heading up the hill.

It is bud, good thing is the guy is always maintaining it with his digger as he uses it for driver training for various groups of folk even the police. The forces use the site as well occasionally.

There's so many different routes you're never gonna get bored and it's got sections for all levels of experience. The amount of times I get out and walk the route a bit to work out the best line is unreal!

Ordered myself a treat today... front and rear lift springs from Pedders! :D

Can't wait to see Foxy with a 2" lift :thumbs

Spoke to the guy at Pedders to make sure I got the right springs to suit the winch bumper, as I'm keeping the standard shocks just now I don't even need to lengthen the ARB links (total axle drop won't be changed, just the ride height).

The rear ARB does disconnect but I'm probably going to take it off anyway. I'll retain the front for stability on the tarmac although I've heard a lot of guys remove the ARB's when they fit the Pedders kit so they must be quite stiff :nenau

What recovery do you have?

I've got the winch etc on the truck and if there's no one else on site when you get stuck everyone has a couple of numbers to call including the site owner's (he lives next to the site).

When I go there's always guys kicking about though, either going round themselves or chatting in near the entrance to the site where the pure offroaders are kept.

Like you said on the other post I'm only going to test my limits on the more tricky stuff if there's a few folk with me :thumb2

same here, good price for the cover. Get you home from anywhere in the UK.

Fitted my springs and shocks! :D

An exciting sight!!

Rear axle offside first. Shock undone, ARB link off and spring out :thumb2

Spring comparison (yeh I know the new one is upside down :lol)

20141109-103027-zps223abf61.jpg

Shock comparison, the old one looks so wee!

20141109-103458-zps4a6bcfde.jpg

One side done :D

Goodbye rear ARB!

20141109-142411-zps688aff0f.jpg

Made an adjuster for the brake bias valve :thumb2 The Trols have a valve on a linkage attached to the rear axle that adjusts the rear brake bias depending on the rear load, increased load = increased rear braking, reduced load = decreased rear braking. You fit a suspension lift and it makes the valve think there's a much reduced load on the axle so you need to make a bracket to raise the linkage by the same height that you're lifting the suspension.

Old front shocks compared with new.

Bye bye front ARB.

Last corner fitted.

This will be of interest to the other Y61 Trol owners. Got myself an extended door retainer bracket for the small nearside rear door. For some reason known only to Nissan, by default it doesn't open more than about 70 degrees :doh Fitting the extended bracket allows the door to open out to 90 degrees (possibly a little more).

What's next on the list :nenau

Cheers Elty :thumb2

Got a couple orange LED lights to fit, replacing the extra indicators on the winch bumper (they gave up the ghost about a month ago).

That'll be it for a while after I reckon.

Though I wouldn't mind some steels... and a snorkel :augie
