nearest nissan dealership to me is crewe, got it from LVW senar, birkenhead. Had to buy the whole tube bit as well....... never mind, all sorted now, just the suspension to sort but at least it drives well now

My last T2 used to eat MAF's.... 2001 SWB!!!

It was running gutless, and wouldnt rev over 3,000rpm. New MAF from Nissan for about £60 quid and it was like a race car... next day took it down the motorway at 80mph, and the MAF went again (definate feeling of all power dieing at once!)
Unplugged the MAF on hard shoulder, drove back to Nissan Leeds and DEMANDED another one (only done 20 miles!) cheeky bar-stewards wanted to charge me £40 for a diagnostic check to make sure it was there MAF which had failed.....

anyways, after abusing the main man (in the nicest possible way :augie:augie) gave me a replacement.... race car again, flying down the motorway home.... all power goes AGAIN!!! :banghead

This time went to Nissan Halifax, with recipts who spoke to Leeds and gave me another one.... after plugging it into a diagnostic FOC! :D

Anyways, to cut a very long story short it turned out it was the cheepo air filter I'd bought from the parts centre for about £4.... wasnt letting enough air into the MAF! :doh

Needless to say though, after getting 2 MAFs from Nissan FOC in the space of a week I didnt let them know it had been my fault all along!!! :lol:augie:thumbs

Moral of the story..... I always use Nissan Air Filters on the T2's now!!!! :thumb2

Bloody good tip BB, might explain why I've had no failures, (i) cos I've always had my trucks serviced properly, and (ii) i've used a K&N filter for most of their lives.

I wonder what the issue is with the MAF and cheap filters....does it overheat or something??

Not sure :nenau.... but fitting a Nissan bought filter solved the problem... use them in both T2's now and (touch wood) never had anymore issues! ;)

ps.. I dont work for Nissan!!! ha ha
