So if we can read codes at work with a multi reader (a generic cheapi we have) I shouldn't be alarmed if I see injector code.

Oh, last question, what eml code do you get with this filter issue then?

Before you try and read the codes, check that the 16pin diag socket on the vehicle has pin 7 fitted, your vehicle is late enough to expect that might.
If it is present then you can use a generic OBD type reader, otherwise it is Nissan Consult only.

Yes as you mentioned on the phone too :clap

You don't need a multi meter to read the fault codes:doh a god old paper clip works great even a tin metal hair clip women use would prob work ok or a bit of wire & you've prob got some of them in your house right now:augie I got code 21 when my filter blocked

I've got the later plug fitted on mine (05 Alex's is 04) & after your info on which contacts to bridge out (bottom left & right) I could read the fault codes no probs:thumbs

I would also try sticking some normal diesel through too Alex. Don't forget the weather is cooling down now so the veggie will be thickening up and unless you have a fuel heater fitted then no amount of engine running will thin it down.

So change your filter and stick some diesel in.

Just another thought your fuel pump is leaking isn't it ? wonder if the pump seal could be pulling in air when under heavy loads:nenau

The later (16 pin) socket is unfortunately no guarantee that is OBD compliant although technically anything post 2004 should be.
Hence the simple check for the presence of pin 7 (K-Line) for OBD connectivity.
If the OBD reader works, and the ECU has DTC 21 stored the OBD reader is only likely to show a generic timing feedback error fault. P1246

The flashing MIL with a piece of wire, or Nissan Consult will always provide a more detailed DTC. 0201

with all this advice i'd go for the easiest and cheap option of changing the fuel filter first, being as you run on veg its going to need doing anyway ;)

I'd have to agree with that,.. simple & cheap!

stop keep putting crap chip oil in tank just use diesel cheaper in long run :thumbs

his fuel pump is leaking, but it looks like the return banjo washer, it was on the list for next time as was the mini filter, so unlikely to draw air as the wrong side, Rick

He's on SVO not crap chip oil
However Alex, as said above, it's time to dilute a bit as the ambient temps drop :thumbs

Good shout but saving a fortune :thumbs

I haven't worked out the savings but jeebus it must be in the quad digits

This months for example I had 10 barrels of veggie at 13.99, that would have cost 1.46 per liter of diesel cost nearly 300 quidish but instead it's under 150 quid ish

don't no but good luck anyway :thumbs

Not that I know jack, but sounds like fuel starvation... :augie

Yeah I thought so (thus filter diagnosis) but if filter us naff would primer still be hard?

Also makeitfit yes diluting time is coming up.

The only other thing I did the evening before the drive was pop a load if redex in (with a full tank)

Rev engine and watch primer it will suck down as it is struggling to pull fuel through

I will hopefully check at work, I did check this after we pulled over, perhaps too late though :thumb2
