Can't believe that this wasn't picked up on the MOT last month.

This is what caught my eye so i removed the bump stop to get a better look.

That is worrying that MOT tester didn’t pick it up.

How are you going to tackle that repair?

It does worry me about my trucks getting older, have been thinking about this subject lately with our trucks.

I did that same job a while back, but I had a dona chassis to cut whole section out from, it will be a difficult job to patch, the main problem is that across chassis tube, it takes all the torque from the axle, Rick

The cross member is solid its just the gusset that is rotted.
Gave it some abuse with the hammer and chisel earlier.
Chassis section will be replaced with a length of 60x100x3.5 box section and a new spring mount is going to be fabricated from 3 mm plate.
Off up to work this afternoon to make a start on the new parts.

The wheels look ace mate, I love the effect :thumb2

My fuel primer thingy has just packed in, I've removed it for now and put a half decent inline filter in till I get another. Runs fine now but no non return thingy so takes a couple of seconds tom start.
I've had issues with air getting in fuel for a while, but when it packed in I could see no bubbles going into filter (I have clearish pipes) and loads of bubbles coming out!
Try by passing fuel filter with an inline one for a few days, see if it makes a difference!

I did that the other week:thumb2
Didn't make any difference as my issue was a melted glow plug relay.

Got the spring mount and chassis repair section fabricated this afternoon:thumb2
Just the lower spring mount gusset to do tomorrow then it will be ready to weld back in.

Didn't have any of the right size box section in at work so had to make my own from 3 mm plate.
Put an easy fold seration along the corners so i could fold it by hand then welded along the edges.

Looking well good, like it, Rick

Cheers Rick:thumb2
This is the easy part as it's warm and dry in the workshop and i can work at a bench with clean materials.
The fun begins contorting myself into a position under motor to weld it back in:(
This is when a workshop with a lift would come in handy.

Shame you are not closer, you could have used mine, pig of a job on the floor, Rick

Cheers for the offer but yes the distance is an issue.
I used to have access to a four post lift but my mate no longer works in the garage trade.
I'm currently trying to sort out renting a bit of floor space at work in the new unit.
General manager is fine with it but the main man has to give it the all clear.

Looking great is that elty, got to admit that I think I may well of thrown the towel in if it had been my truck.
