I if you lock/unlock the doors with the drivers switch, the door switch next to the window switches or with the remote you can do it 5 times then the c/l stops working fully

I know i have read somewhere not to do this, can be bad

My wife's xsara Picasso has a button on the dash to lock the doors but the passenger front door doesn't lock so everything unlocks again. I kept pushing the button and eventually the central locking slowed down and stopped working all together! I thought I'd knackered it but it started working again a few minutes later?

Just went to have another quick look for the c/l module (can't find it:doh) & it wouldn't let me get in as it locked as soon as I pressed the unlock button & still getting the locking again when the ignition switched on & a beep warning with the key the lock at times if the key is moved to the left. It's going to have to go to an auto electrician now or bloody Nissan as i've just ran out of ideas & need a motor that works but if the price starts getting costly for them to try & find the fault I will have to get shot of it

Just be tactful and go to nissan ask them how to much to diagnose. C/l fault. Then it's just part cost, if any :thumb2

On my vehicle it is immediatley above the fuse panel. The same unit is used on Primera's and they sell for 10~15 quid on ebay.
Nissan named it the "Time Control Unit"

might be worth checking this :nenau

Stripped the dash & found it, had a look on & none have the same part number:doh My wife gave nissan a call about the locking problem & they said oh the key prob needs recoding as it's loosing it's memoury & that's £64:eek::eek: for turning the key in the ignition 6 times & pressing buttons I don't think so plus if the fob was at fault it wouldn't open the doors:doh

First thing you did was change the battery and re programme the fob so that's been eliminated a long time ago.
Have you tried unlocking the car with the key(alarm will go off but once key has been put in ignition and turned on it should stop.....eventually:lol)
Don't actually know what this would prove other than the key works.
Pity there is no one near to you with a spare c/l module you could plug in and try.

I have one on a 98/99 give me your numbers and I will have a look, Rick

Well might as well pop up a couple of pic's of the set up on my late 2005 which also has a different fuse box to the older models as it uses the mini type blade fuses which I hate as you can't get a hold of them:doh

The Cont-Time (C/L module) clips into the top of the fuse where it connect directly to the holder which looked to be part of the fuse box & there was 2 multi plugs which also came out of the back of it. Anyway this showed hopefully show the part numbers & other info on the lable

I've tried the key in the lock a couple of times in case some how the lock wanted to read the key somehow & the light started to flash as if the alarm was going off but I don't get any sound from the alarm horn but I haven't for around 6 months as the horn has either died or more than likely i've knocked a wire off it when fiddling around in the rear 1/4 panels when pulling the tow bar electric's through of fitting a grommet on the O/S/R which Nissan forgot to fit:doh well I think the sounder is in one of the rear 1/4 panels:nenau
When it really plays up even the key won't open the door as it locks straight away & the lock becomes useless same as the internal leaver to lock/unlock the doors soaked it all in WD40 today just in case that does something. Might be useless info:augie but have tried googling this problem to death & something that I keep coming across on a lot of forums is Nissan don't bother sealer the door actuators:doh when they were put together so water can easily find it's way inside them to the point some who live in cold areas the actuators freeze solid:eek: so if you drive through a lot of water it might be worth putting some silicone of the joins etc to try & keep them dry

Yeah the horn for the alarm is behind the driver side boot panel.
Good find ray:thumb2
Got to be worth the 15 quid just to rule it out.

Do you think it could be the module:nenau
I don't really have any way of knowing, I still feel it is possibly down to a dodgy connection somewhere, but in any event 10 quid plus postage is a fair gamble.
