Ok a strange one for you, today we've had to do a little running around & every time i've went to start the T2 (starts fine:thumbs) as you go to crank the engine all the doors lock:eek::doh have reprogrammed the key & that's made no difference & have just been & bought a new battery for the fob but not tried it yet. I know when I first got the truck the fob was set to first press of the unlock button just opened the drivers door & second press unlocked everything but changed that to a single press of the unlock button to open all doors

Just tried it with the new battery & it's still the same so checked the fault codes & there is nothing stored:nenau

If the main battery is getting low, then sometimes the central locking and radio can drop out, if the voltage gets too low.
Or it might be a poor battery connection.

Only put a new battery on it last year but know what your saying thou as it has done this before when I had a flat'ish battery & the engine wouldn't start but it's starting fine & after a 8 mile run we popped into a shop & went to come home & it did it again now I know the battery was fully charged up:confused:

Only time mine has done that is on a low battery. I would say, check the battery clamp, sounds like the wire to the Starter motor is connected fine, but the wire that the rest of the electrics for the car run off has a dodgy connection. The extra current draw of the starter solenoid is causing the car electrics voltage to drop and upsetting the central locking.

They changed the clamp on the later ones there is the large wire for the starter that comes off the clamp but then there are 2 wires in a sealed plastic case that is fitted to the clamp

It's those 2 wires you need to check, on mine, the crimp loop had fractured just in front of where it went from the crimped tube bit that goes round the wires, to the flat of the loop the bolt goes through. It looked OK to start with, then when I looked closely, there was a green fracture line nearly all the way across it.

Mine don't have the ring terminals but instead it's a female locking spade connector with a bit you have to push down to remove the wire. Just had a look at them & from what I could see using the hand lamp they were nice & clean on the contacts & the wires seem firmly fitted as I gave them a good wiggle & tug, so smeared some Vaseline on the contacts anyway which should keep the damp out. Only thing I haven't done yet is remove the battery clamps to see if they have cracked as it's to dark now. This has really p'ed me off even started looking at shoguns:augie

how do you do this :nenau vehicle or remote specific ?
I have just made a flip conversion but now i have to press the button twice to unlock :augie

Had the same problem with mine and it was a duff battery.
Had only been on just over a year but it had a 3 year warranty on it so got it swapped no problems.

Yes, how do you change it so that one press opens all doors

Well took the battery terminals off & no cracks or splits in them, pulled off the small wires & they also seemed good so cleaned up all of the contacts & battery posts for good measure & recovered them in Vaseline to keep the damp out. Went to start it up & got a clonk as if it tried to unlock this time so that is a step forwards:augie after that thou it hasn't done it again. Not sure if cleaning bits up, disconnecting the battery for a bit has done a sort of reset as hazards have flashed a couple of times when turning ingnition on but thought it was me catching one of the buttons or threatening the T2 that it'll get PX'ed in for a disco has done the trick:lol:nenau
As for changing the opening set up if I remember right you put key in ignition & turn it on so all lights come on & then press lock & unlock buttons at the same time & hold them for 5 seconds. Got info of here but can't remember the post now

I had this exact problem when I had the Maverick and it turned out that my positive terminals were shagged!!!!

My doors were doing the exact same thing

This is what i fixed it with;

No more auto locking doors after that

Ok so after reading this it now sounds as if either your starter motor or connections to it are knackered or your ignition barrel is worn and the switch isnt opperating correctly

It had a new ignition switch 19 months ago when I bought the T2 so know that's fine & it's had a new starter fitted not long before I bought it:thumbs as I said it starts perfect & everything is working fine again so am starting to think it might have been a slightly dirty contact on one of the smaller wire:augie

Sounds solid enough to me mate :) keep an eye on it

Well it didn't last long back to locking us in again when I start her up:doh Made 2 little jumper wires to go from the + battery terminal direct to the 2 smaller wires & it was it was still the same so to me that rules out any bad connections on the clamp, also used one of my jump leads off the negative terminal to the body as another earth strap & no change:doh Then remembered what Elty had posted about his year old battery being a dud so called into where I got the battery from & they tested it & it's down 25% on cold cranking amps:eek: so he's putting in a warranty claim for me & getting a new battery tomorrow:thumb2 lets just hope this one lasts more than 13 months:augie

Update:augie Nice new battery on & it's still the same:doh:doh checked the voltage both sides of the contacts the 2 small wire connect on & it's the same reading as the battery so am sure this battery clamp is ok just really stuck now on what it is & don't have the money to keep replacing parts that might not be the cause:doh

Right thought i'd try something today I disconnected the starter solenoid & turned the key as if I was trying to start the engine & the door didn't lock so I think it's safe to say the ignition switch is ok which TBH I would be a bit shocked if it was faulty as it was replaced 21 months ago:thumbs which I think leaves two other options causing the fault the battery clamp or starter motor. I know the starter was replaced before I bought the truck & it's still nice & shiny is there anyway of checking in ? could a strip down & clean poss solve the problem on the starter if it is that at fault (engine starts great tho) if so how do I do it ?
