found a place called pindale farm outdoor center they have the ability to house people with out tintents or tents at arround £10 per night per person

their site is http://www.pindalefarm.co.uk but it seems to be down at the mo (although i was on it about 10 mins ago)

hi kbekl.
the camp site at pindale is at the bottom ofpindale green lane which we will be driving .
dont know how they react to 4x4s so would advise keeping mum about reason for going there.:sly
regarding stannage if we leave it till late in the day people will have had a taster of what they and there trucks are capable of doing.
THERE IS NO PRESSURE ON ANYONE TO DRIVE STANNAGE EDGE.
swb terrano and mav`s will cope better than lwb .esecialy if also fitted with side steps. BUT PLENTY OF WAFFLE BOARDS WILL GET YOU OVER.
patrols should be ok due to extra height and width.
we will all go to the start of the rough stuff and then its just a short walk.
as regards the actual driving over stannage all of us will be guided over the worst bits .
PASSENGERS ARE ASKED TO GET OUT OVER THE WORST BITS .
some of the rocks can be wet due to springs so slipping and sliding can be a problem.
some weaving around rocks is necessary to avoid the worst ones.

the route has been driven in brand new land rover discoverys mk 4.
and various other 4x4s as part of a feature for off road magazines.
you can come a cropper but its usually do to over exuberance so steady does it.

me being a plank mentioned that lol, but he had no problems with it he did say they were trying to restrict the 4x4 use in the area with the police turning people away from the one down near the site

he didnt seem too fussed and said that all vehicles needed to be road legal thou which we already know

he has plenty of space for all and about 50 beds available in the building if needed @ £10 night and camping £5 per person per night.

well me being me have a lwb lol but no side steps (atleast i don't see any) is thier a soft route for those that dont feel upto it or just a matter of turning about

I'd be up for a bed as a tent isnt much fun in rain as i'll be doing that this weekend :doh

Only 1 route on the Stanage... Down :D

Trust me though, with spotters & boards you WILL be ok :thumbs

As its being done late in the day, as said above, you'll know what your (not the truck) limits are :thumbs

NONE OF US WOULD LET SOMEONE WRECK THE TRUCK :thumbs

thanks elton.
we need to be sorting out if people want to go have a look at stannage.
it will mean loosing some of the driving time and lanes
unless we split up and make up a group that want to go to stannage

sounds like a plan.
karen would kill me if i drove stanage with her and the kids as heights are not her strong point and i dont want to put her and the kids off laning as we all enjoy it.
as richard says leave it until later in the day then people have got a feel for what their trucks and themselves are confident at doing.
only ever been on stanage once as a passenger in a series 2 landy and we drove it up hill before the down hill rule came in.it was at least 12 years ago so i imagine it has changed alot since then.

what about part of normal route to finnish at houndkirk then on to stannage .
be nice if we could see some other trucks doing the edge.

i like the two groups idea, one takes in stannage the others dont, maybe meet up again later.

I'm for not doing it ta

i think you are right Plank
just thought about the time it will be dark by 6pm
so not a good idea to push things.
maybe stick together till lunch at Eyam then split up from there.then possible meet again on houndkirk.

like the sound of that:thumb2
plenty of good lanes for the ones that don't want to do stanage.

Hi I'm planning a day out to view the heather in bloom

Heather blooms August/ September.

I tend to avoid summer routes as they can very overgrown and scratchy.

Also people tend to be out with families walking and so on

This could possibly be the itinerary

EASY MORNINGS LANING THEN A LIGHT SNACK & COMFORT STOP AT AM SOME POINT & A FEW MORE LANES & THEN MAYBE A BBQ ON THE MOORS
YOU WILL NEED TO BRING YOUR OWN BBQ AND FOOD
MAYBE AN EVENING DRIVE AS WELL ( TEST YOUR ROOF LIGHTS OUT )
WATCH THE SUN GO DOWN FROM HOUNDKIRK MOORE

The lanes wont be pre driven so may have to make some changes on the day But will be checked against (tro) closures

SO BRING THE KIDS ALONG (dogs welcome BUT on lead please)

MAKE A FAMILY DAY OUT OF IT
OR EVEN A WEEKEND AS THERE ARE CARAVAN SITES NEAR BY

groups of 4 so group leaders required

regards iandouglas and sheila

hi stevecrm.
not a problem.
Soon i will be sending my Mobil no to all that are coming ,
(AND ASKING FOR THEIRS ).
That way if anyone late / lost / broke down / cannot come .
we can help / advise, and we dont need to hang around waiting for someone who is not coming.
SO by the same token you can let me know on the morning, if you can come out to play.:clap

unfortunately , due to a major problem , with sheilas wages . , i may not be able to attend , will tell you for certain in a few days ( after ive drove her landrover through the office doors )

also a question mark hanging over weather or not i will be able to make it.
been away camping all week, had a brilliant time and the weatehr was perfect but on the way back i had firstly an issue with the truck revving out but not doing anything as in no increase in power just revving upto 3500 and then dropping down to 2000 and driving fine then the hydraulics on the clutch failed:doh
crash boxed it to the nearsest garage forecourt and got the spanners out and blanked off the damper pipe as it had split about 3/4 of the way down and spat fluid everywhere.
got home fine but i now need to do a permanent fix on the clutch hydraulics and get to the bottom of this high revving issue.
fingers crossed we will be fixed in time but back on overtime next week so it doesn't leave me much spare time to get it sorted.
