Hi guys here are a few photos of the day, the first one is of Paul broadsiding up Leeside, its not a very good picture as it was taken through the screen and it also does not show how STEEP it is on Leeside

paul332%20Leeside.jpg

DERBYSHIRE GREEN LANES DAY,SUNDAY 10th FEBUARY 08

HI . :p
WELL DIDNT WE HAVE SOME STORYS TO TELL ABOUT SUNDAY.
PAUL 332 learning how good mavs HI LIFT JACK IS.
paul had lost his back box on leeside , recon it died of embarissment failing to get up there .THE RUST BUG GOT TO IT.
STILL 5 MINS LATER HE HAD THE REMAINS STASHED IN THE BACK OF HIS TRUCK AND OFF WE WENT AGAIN.
A quick play for mav and nellie at PINDALE . first coat of mud.
BROUGH LANE . we met the landowner .who was all for charging us £10 each to drive his lane ,he said a lot of damage had been done to HIS lane and was looking for funds to aid repairs.
NOT BAD IDEA but lane is an ORPA and is maintained by council . :?
still he was a nice old gent and we parted wishing each other a fond fairwell.
HE put us a bit late into EYAM and lunch so we missed jj and group 2.

mav and jj chatting away over CB and relaying messages back to me.
because i couldnt hear them .
sorry we missed you guys ,must try harder next time. :p

PUDSEY put in a few appearances keep an eye on the photos he has already been on one have you found him yet .he even brought a stunt double.
MAV WAS SO HIGH UP IN NELLIE AT ONE POINT HE SHOUTED OVER THE CB HE HAD A NOSE BLEED.

MAV fed the trout in the river wye at monsal dale, they even ate the tomato  .

I was very pleased with the way the lanes had dried up and i think some repair work had been done already.

Just as the light was fading we headed towards houndkirk moore .
what a sunset bright red against the distant hills.

on houndkirk we met the only others out in 4x4s all said hello as we passed them .

we got to the gate and rather than open it we had a quick photo shoot and then we turned around and.
MAV TOOK HIS RIGHTFULL PLACE AS LEADER OF THE PACK.
and drove houndkirk back the way we came , which i found much harder it was like going against the grain. MUCH ROUGHER.
NELLIE SHOWED US A LITTLE OF WHAT SHE IS CAPABLE OF
JUST ROLLING OVER THEM ROCKS .

THEN THERE WAS THE THREE SHEEP .LESS SAID ABOUT THEM THE BETTER. .
Back at the starting gate it was just a matter of setting sat nav (tomtom one) for home and all 4 of the trucks drove in convoy untill we reached dronfield bypass then it was time to waive goodbye to paul 332 and christine. and after all the ribbing about him being exhausted he was problably glad to see the back of us.
We made our way to Chesterfield then Mansfield then just outside Rainworth .it was time to waive to mav and tubbs and jnr as they headed home that just left me and big G.and big SIS. guided them a few miles and they were back on turf gordon recognised. so bye bye .gordon.

only thing left was a detore to local chippy for fish and chips.

once back home we counted pudseys money couldnt believe it £30 :p
THEN LOOKED AT THE DISCLAIMER SHEETS AND SOME OF YOU DIDNT PUT HOW MUCH MONEY YOU DONATED ,SO IF YOU WOULDNT MIND COULD YOU PM ME WITH YOUR NAME AND USER NAME AND AMOUNT YOU PAID. THEN I CAN WORK OUT HOW MANY TICKETS YOU HAVE.

MANY THANKS TO ALL OF YOU WHO TOOK PART ,THE ONES WHO COULDNT MAKE IT ,THANKS FOR TRYING TO COME .AND THOSE WHO DIDNT .BET YOU WISHED YOU DID NOW .
BECAUSE WE ARE NOT GOING TO TELL YOU ABOUT THE THREE SHEEP.

UNLESS YOU GIVE PUDSEY A £1
CAN THE OTHERS WHO CAME DO A SHORT RECORD OF THERE DAY .

RGDS.iandouglas and sheila
GREAT PHOTOS .
I HAVE A FEW WILL GET THEM POSTED TOMMORROW .

ORPAs are theoretically maintained by the Highway Authority - but practically often not. One possible might be to organise a group of users from the club (and elsewhere) to help out doing some maintenance on a voluntary basis. FYI, the LARA National Green Lane Day is on Sunday 24th Feb 08

I suspect that Brough Lane is one of the lanes under threat of a TRO.

Cheers
Andrew

Hello Andrewk, ERR, Yes you are right only two did make it up Leeside, But only two even tried it.

The reason for this was,

Paul was across the lane and me and BigG were behind him, so we had to reverse down, Jjs pack was waiting at the bottom behind us.
We were repairing Paul332s car at the bottom of the lane, and causing problems blocking the lane and as you know there are houses at the bottom of the lane with people trying to enjoy their Sunday morning,
So Jjs group went of to the next lane.

IanDouglas did ask if i wanted to have a go but i turned him down as i had not driven Nellie of road before and was a little unsure of how she would handle and preferred to try it out on a lane that was not so steep and narrow and somewhere else were i could get out of any problems if i incurred any after all it was the first lane of the day and lost about 3/4 to an hour and needed to press on too.

By the end of the day i was loving it.

Mav.

DERBYSHIRE GREEN LANES DAY,SUNDAY 10th FEBUARY 08

hi paul .
have you been practicing with your camera.
some stunning pictures.
my fav is no 15.
although the sun set is also very good.

after all that you must have been exhausted!.
rgds. iandouglas

BROUGH LANE. IS IN PRITY GOOD CONDITION OTHER THAN AT THE START DUE TO WASH OUT. SOMEONE HAD DIVERTED THE WORST OFF THE ROAD AND INTO THE FIELD.
THE OTHER THING WITH BROUGH LANE IS THIS.
I WAS FIRST UP SUN IN MY EYES AND AS I REACHED THE TOP MANAGED TO SEE SOMEONE HAD TIPPED A TRAILOR LOAD OF SOIL AT THE TOP, NEARLY BLOCKING THE LANE. I HAD TO PUT ONE WHEEL UP THE BANK TO GET BY.
SHEILA AND I THEN SAW THE FLY TIPPERS IT WAS A TRACTOR DRIVER AND HIS MATE THEY HAD JUST CLOSED THE GATE ON THE LEFT HAND SIDE AND SET OFF DOWN THE FIELD THAY CLEARED OFF PREETY SMARTISH, ALTHOUGH THEY DID SEE ME CLIMB OVER THE SOIL.
I STILL DONT KNOW IF THERE INTENTION WAS TO BLOCK THE LANE AT THAT POINT OR WERE THEY ROAD MENDING, WITH SOIL?.
PAUL AND BIG G MANAGED TO GET OVER IT BUT IT WAS SIVERE ENOUGH TO CATCH MAV OUT UNTIL HE USED DIFF LOCK.

Hi Andrewk, Ian and me went up Leeside which was good fun but coming back down again was just as good if not better in places.
Gordon.

Ian, Christine as fallen in love with the house on pic 15

Hi Paul the photos are brilliant mate, no 15 is a nice setting but it would be a bit noisy with all of those 4x4s going past.
Gordon.

Hi All,

I almost forgot this! On Sunday I logged the GPS track of the route we took and have converted it into Google Earth tracks with and without extra information that you can download here:

Tracks.zip

These are only of any interest if you use Google Earth but since I spent all day not really knowing where I was it was interesting to see where I'd been!

All the best,

Ian.

Off Topic> DINKY: Your truck was so much better than mine due in part to the driver but I think also partly due to the sagged suspension on my truck

Any chance that you could give me measurements for front and back, wheel centre to under edge of wheel arch please? No rush but I now know I need to sort mine before it goes out again.

Biggest problem i have is a bar ,coming off this summer.Going to mount spots on bumper.Sent you pm.
