the trouble back in those days daved was that a lot of idiots gave the rest of us sensible operators a bad name , it was people using the frequencies inconsiderately , getting bigger aerials , more powerfull radios , high power linear amplifiers , and destroying the channels for everyone else .

a radio is a personal thing , you can spend a lot of money on various radios , but if it does the job for you then its a good one ..... simples :thumb2

agree completely :thumb2

I had quite a powerful rig back then. There was a bunch of us knocked around together and we each had one in our car, pre mobile phone days, they were very useful :thumb2

back in the mid 80s i decided to show the locals idiots up , so i put a 18 foot gp 27 aerial on a 32 foot pole in my back garden and used a 400 watt mains linear .... but of course i was as bad as they where when you think about it ,these days now im older ( and wiser ? :lol ) ive realised that its about more than that

EU40 is of no interest whatsover as i want it as a short range device. Been there done that with the breaker breaker saddos nearly 30 years ago.

er 27/81 is 30 years ago unless at before that with naughty am gear.

Stop playing at it and get the Foundation taken:thumbs I know of someone on here that'll fly through his foundation in a couple of months:clap

CB has it's place tho:bow

the beauty of cb these days is there is hardly anyone on it , which is great , you dont get winkers ( deliberate missprint ) destroying your conversation :thumb2

we played with a variety of equipment that came and went, i didnt own any of it, a couple of the lads were fanatics and highly competent leccy techies to boot :augie

I can remember sitting on the beach at Uphill (the scourge of uphill beach the local fuzz called us) talking to folk across the water in wales. Great stuff for its time in those days :thumb2

my first 100% legal set came from a lad who wanted a lift from me from Bristol to Middlesbrough, didnt want his cb so a deal was struck and he got home and back :D that was easter 1983. It had a power mike with sound effects. Could never see the point of that but again, good toy :lol

i can remember that clearly because i bought a vauxhall cavalier and some biff we were talking to got my handle and the type of car i was in mixed up so after a ot of piss taking i gave in and the handle "cavalier" stuck :doh :D

Christ..........im knocking on :D:D

I was quite surprised how dead the airwaves were when i plugged the new on in to test it.

Ended up speaking to an asian sounding guy who only seemed to know hello and dont understand in english :lol:lol

Itll be perfect for what i want from it :thumb2

well maplins isn't the best place for renowned decent electronics. All I was saying i personally would choose the moxon cm10 over the minor.

The minor will work fine for what you want, Just advising others it may be worth thinking about something different.

i'm not the only one to just get static then? shame really cos in its day the cb was a good choice for communication, and the battery lasted longer than the one on a smart fone lol
