Cheers Rick.

Right first things first. What can I do to diagnose it's defo the clutch, I'm convinced that it is anyway. Bare in mind that I'm not the most confident mechanic.

Next I'll ring round getting prices, I know for sure that Milners do clutch kits for £135 so it's really just the labour charge.

Then start saving.

Time scale, there aint one so it'll be a while so she'll be sat on the drive for a while.

So that's my action plan so far.

Jim, im looking at my Mazda this weekend-new break pads and discs, if it helps, you can borrow my Maverick if you want? All we have to do is put it right with the insurers and im happy. If you need it in an emergency or whatever, im happy for you to borrow itto help you out...

just a thought jim .... do you have guaranteed hire replacement vehicle on your policy ?

their is a few of us up nearby so i guess a few hands would save on the garage costs armed with the manual and right tools we should be able to sort it

didn't the recovery attempt to repair it ? Thought that was there first priority ? I recall borg and beck used to have 'service centres' in certain garages which were a lot cheaper than anyone else. It was abot 10 years ago, but have a look in yellow pages Jim, you never know........

From what I gather it drives all the time, I mean if you put your foot on the pedal and try and engage a gear it will not go, what does the pedal feel like, straight to the floor no effort or normal feel, tell me and we go from there, Rick

Pedal feels pretty much normal, a bit of a squeak towards bottom of travel, this is with engine off that I hear the squeak.

Jim

Larsons found a guy who'll replace the clutch labour only for £150:clap

So defo more do-able, all being well I'll be able to get Green Flag to take it up there to Queensbury nr Bradford. Doubt NFU/RAC would come out again to same fault so just for once I'm glad Mrs insisted on covering both motors with Direct Line/Green Flag.

Better go as I'm fixing someones laptop to earn a bit for the repairs.

Jim, if you cant get the car recovered there give me a PM and I'll come tow ya with an A frame if needed. :thumb2

Prob be Saturday though unless your able to take it one evening

Fantastic BigBlack, I'll make sure you get some diesel of course. Might be another week yet though. Gonna order new clutch tomorrow and then I'm ready. Just a little dosh to pay for the rest and I'm done.

Jim

sounds like its all coming together, im willing to donate a little if it helps Jim, perhaps some diesel money for BigBlack? If Martin needs any laptop fixing favours too, he gets that for free of course! I want to see my mate back on the road with as little fuss and stress as possible.

i wish i was close enough to help mate

feel really gutted i live to far away
