had a call from Jim tonight, hes got a broken clutch.

I feel really bad, because i had to say no to giving him a tow home. I just dont trust mine enough to take on the job :(

anyway, he says it started making a noise, then he had trouble with gears and then it went, smells of burning etc

Jim now needs to asses the damage once he gets it home...

this is it guys, it does sound bad. i feel really bad too, it was only the weekend we were discussing keeping the cars on the road, and now this.

If I end up getting a another new car in the coming weeks, ill lend him my Maverick until he gets sorted.

tow rope and a couple of shackles and your sorted. im sure he's covered though

Jims got the rope, its me and my car thats the trouble, Im not convinced its up to the job of towing a car. hes sorted nwo though, NFU out to tow him home in the next hour or so, then we can assess whats happened. He says there was no warning, it just went, which is surprising...

Clutch

I have a 3 part clutch looks like new ,fitted a recon box in a 94 terrano but purchased the clutch pressure plate and bearing before taking old box out if i new the clutch was as good as new i would not of fitted the new borg and beck one and saved my self 160 quid,

hey ive got the straps n shackles, ok in emergency but really best
place for nigh on 2 ton of dead nissan is on a bar or better still
a flat bed, as you say he is covered, JT thinks ahead.

so on that note Jim, good luck mate, hope theres either slack
on yer plastic to cover it, or several fat to burst piggy banks.

Well Guy's she's home in disgrace!!!!!!!!:doh

Basically pulled out of a junction and thought something felt odd. Anyway couldn't get a gear to change up so pulled in. It makes a squeaking type noise and just will not go in to gear, some friends could smell hot clutch too.

So I got Breakdown Cover free with NFU but also got Direct Line Geen Flag. So we got it home and if needs be will call Green Flag to get me to a garage.

Although we have two cars which means I can still got to work my wife is stuck for her work. What it does mean is that I'm gonna have to start selling stuff to raise some cash as there is no such thing as savings I'm afraid. I'm guessing that a new clutch will be about the £500 mark.

Only thing we both know for certain is that we could scrap the T2 and buy a banger for £500, this would waste all the money we have spent on the T2 and also the banger may be in worse condition. So we are both sure that we have to fix the truck:nenau

Thanks for all the kind words guy's and most of all to Clivvy. Please don't feel bad Clivvy mate, it was a big ask and to be honnest I would of felt extremely bad if we had damaged yours too.

Thanks Everyone
Jim

sounds like the thrust bearing broken up, but worth checking underneath while someone else pushes the pedal down that the slave cylinder push rod moves, however Swifty can do it for a lot less than £500 and if it drives what do you need a clutch for, I could drive it to Bexhill without a clutch no problem as long as the clutch drives best regards Rick
