I also think the first pic looks better :thumb2

but not so much the shape as the size, small round ones would probably look just as good :thumb2

I've gone for the square ones guys :)
I woke up this morning and had another look and changed my mind again, plus taking into account the fact that higher lights will cause issues with low hanging branches I've decided against round ones.

I have enough problems with my CB Aerial lol

I've gone for these;

Seems reasonable for a set of 4 with brackets

Right guys, I've got the lights on the bar now fitted ready to wire up which I'm going to attempt tomorrow but wanted a few words of advice first.

I've already got me some 17 amp wire and am more than capable of wiring up a circuit, I just want to know the best way of routing the cable, I know makeitfit has gone through the roof but it's some weird block that I haven't ever seen before :S, how would you guys recommend coming into the car and sealing it up, once I'm finally in I'm going to come down the pillar behind the dash.

This is my next question, what switch can I get that will fit in this space in the dash behind the window wiper stalk;

Then from there whats the easiest and best way into the engine bay, seeing as I'm coming down the drivers side of the car and the battery is on the drivers side I'd rather come in through that side if possible to not cause the lights to be really dim by having excess meters of cable flapping around in the engine bay.

Thanks Guys :D

You can use an old electrical appliance cable shroud, the bit of rubber that supports the wire as it enters the body of the drill say. Glue that in the roof. That switch hole is ideal and I used MK1 switches off a terrano as they are available with fog lights or spot light symbols on them and they light up :thumbs
Cables can go through the bulkhead via any of the many rubber grommets . Just pick one that's not too full already ;)

I'd run the lights from a relay in the engine bay and then run the smaller wires to the switch. You may also want to use higher amp wire.

I used normal on/off/on toggle switch, Mine is wired up so they come on with main beam or always off or always on.

Ah right, I'll have to have a look at that stuff :S, I'll check my Bosch drill when I get home.

One of these do the job?

There is a large rubber grommet on the right hand side of the engine bay on the bulkhead, it seems to be in really tight but I suppose it has to be to remain waterproof, these wires all seem to loop up and go into one of the fuseboxes closest to the drivers side wing.

How much of a ballache is it to remove the right hand side of the dash to feed this through or is there an easier way?

I'm just going to whack it straight onto the battery via an on/off switch with an inline fuse as I've had bad experiences with previous cars and attaching fogs to dipped and main beam feeds.

No need to take dash off/out, just start from the engine bay then pull wires through from under the dash , simples :)
That swith will do it but a terrano one fits the hole :thumbs

Message sent :), i didn't get round to having a crack today as I went to the Toy Collectors Fair at the NEC instead and by the time I got back the weather was dire and I was too tired so I'm going to have a go after work tomorrow as I'm on shifts next week so will be finished by 4.

I have decided to modify my setup slightly and decided to put a 20amp fuse inline

Here's a close up of mine and the light plug/skt

The front of the foot is about 50 - 60mm back from windscreen :thumbs

Makeitfit where can I get one of those sockets from to route my cables through the roof??? I don't even know what it's called to search for them lol

It's a military type plug/skt buggered if I can remember it's name type though :eek: Someone posted it's name before though, perhaps it'll be explained again soon :thumb2

But then you're stuck with it all on the roof for ever :eek: I can undo mine :D

I can cut it out if the spots do ever come off and I don't need that hole anymore I can just find a grommet that will cover the hole and seal that in surely?

just realised old off road motor has SWB roof rails any one interested? or is makeitfit gonna tell me they are sought after:) Rick

Simply yes, but cheap skate job I reckon :augie

I don't like the look of the military connection and that's the only other way I can think of doing it :(, if you have any other alternatives I'm all ears :)
