you could look for other waterproof plugs and chassis sockets.
Knowing what terminology to use is half the battle, I don't even know what to put in my searches :S
very true, I will scout about and try and find you something.
But I think if you want to go through the roof your better with that military plug/socket. Other option is to run the cables in conduit down on the outside edge of the windscreen.
or one of those cable entry glands, Not sure how waterproof they are.

do you mount them so they are pointing up or down? Are are they waterproof any way?

I thought you were going to mount them below bar level, avoiding low brows etc
really? I think it's looks bad above personally.
How will you use these if you have to switch them all the time, or are they for offroad only/work lights?
