you could look for other waterproof plugs and chassis sockets.

just realised old off road motor has SWB roof rails any one interested? or is makeitfit gonna tell me they are sought after:) Rick

Nah, it's all about the LWB bars on the SWB's ;)

I've had a scour around the net using that name and my search results haven't been very fruitful :/

Anyone got any other ideas of how I can route the cables through the roof?

Knowing what terminology to use is half the battle, I don't even know what to put in my searches :S

very true, I will scout about and try and find you something.

But I think if you want to go through the roof your better with that military plug/socket. Other option is to run the cables in conduit down on the outside edge of the windscreen.

Your a gent!!! :) I think I would rather go down the non military socket route, I don't like the look if the pin outs it all looks rather fiddly and not very neat IMO

Yeah I thought of doing that but not to keen on that idea either :/ I also thought of coming through the sunroof run-off pipe lol but water and wiring don't really mix :/

do you mount them so they are pointing up or down? Are are they waterproof any way?

I presume the threaded bit would come through the roof and then bolt together.
I'd be tempted to route the cable then sealant round it from the inside.

Going to ring round a few electrical suppliers in the area to see if I can source me some later

They're only a mechanical seal made by tightening the rubber grommet in the tapered threaded bit . So right size is important.

Job Done they are on!!!!!!

I managed to find a 20mm Conduit from my local electrical supplier and just drilled a 20mm hole in the roof, whacked that in there with a washer underneath and sealed it all up with some sealant

Don't worry about the patch on the roof, the paint is flaking off which I did know about when I brought it

Got the spots on the top and then started to wire them up :)

I used some 27amp wire straight into the cabin via the conduit and then down the pillar into the dash and then the positive went straight out again via the rubber grommet behind the accelerator pedal and then straight onto the positive terminal, just before the battery I dropped in an inline fuse.

The negative went to up past the top of the fusebox and onto the temporary switch and then looped back off the switch and out via the same hole as the positive took me longer than it should have in the dark but it's done now and I love the results :)

What do you guys think?

I thought you were going to mount them below bar level, avoiding low brows etc

really? I think it's looks bad above personally.

How will you use these if you have to switch them all the time, or are they for offroad only/work lights?

Don't intend to use them on the roads really unless it's like blanket fog/bad weather/country lanes and for when I'm Off Roading, hence why I didn't utilise your 3 way switch idea and have them hooked up to the full beam as well.

They were terrible below and didn't sit right :S i just preferred them above
