(25 years ago I had just turned one   )

I am getting one today [CB ]

Only thing is I am considering keeping it mobile in a box...so can transfer to other vehicles......what do you guys do :?:

In the Disco mines hard wired straight to the secondary fuse box, set fitted into dash, and gutter mouinted antenna at rear.

In the Mav, I have the set on a 12v cigarette lighter type plug (fused) the set wedged between the seat and cubby box. Mag mount antena placed centrally on roof.

Have a search on old CB posts as others have differant ideas too.

My CB is in semi perm  but if you don't use the cubby hole infront of the gear sticks you could cut a bit of MDF with the edges shamfered so it will slot in snug into the cubby hole & then cut out a slot for the CB to pop out of & secure the CB to the new panel with some L shaped brakets. Then fit some sort of handle to the front so you can pull it out (bit like the old pull out stereo's)

I've only just got one - for a 05 Patrol. I've fitted the radio, semi-permanently to the rear vertical face of the transmission tunnel using two strips of (very) heavy duty velcro. You can get that from B&Q.

I've had a cigar lighter plug fitted to the radio power leads and have it connected into a cigar lighter socket on the dash (there are two, side by side). This is only a temporary arrangement. I'll hardwire it permanently once I've decided on a better way of getting the aerial cable into the Patrol. At the moment, the aerial coax passes through the rear offside door seal - which I don't particularly like. It occured to me that the cables for the towbar electrics have to find their way into the car somehow - probably via a grommet, which may well have space for another cable to pass through. If so, this will let me avoid drilling another hole.

Cheers
Andrew

Unlikely, I never thought we would get these numbers to start with so may have to change the start point to somewhere else, posssibly Castleton, as there is a large car park at the rd junction at the bottom of Winnatts pass.
Its also closer to the start point.
