(Not) Charging caravan battery while towing.

Was you're first 'van using 7 pin sockets rather than 13pin as per you're new 'van? 13 pin systems are notorious for voltage drop caused by their small pins and far too small cables, added to the under-sized cable used in modern 'vans I'm surprised anything works. The only answer is to beef-up...

    front washer failier & more

Washer pump has failed AGAIN!!!! Just as I thought a direct feed from battery to pump had finally cured the problem. This has got beyond a joke so I stripped the pump down (& the 8 yo original one). It seems they both had the same problem: water creeping passed the drive spindle, flooding the...

    front washer failier & more

No chance-I flush the bottle out before changing a pump & always filter the washer fluid. I've now resorted to wiring the washer pump direct from the battery (via a fuse & a switch LOL). It works much better than it ever has (probably due to less voltage drop) but I am still at a loss as to why...

    front washer failier & more

Thanks for the suggestions Banshee :thumb2 .If nothing obvious shows up then I'll wire the washer pump direct from the battery via a fuse & a flick switch. Never use the rear anyway (wheel lift makes view too small!) & I've always preferred switching the washer on before the wipers (the only...

    front washer failier & more

HELP! Front washer packed up a month ago (again) so I fitted a new pump & all was well....three times. Then it failed (seized?). It just gives one click when fed direct, & does not turn. As well as this the rear wash & wiper have stopped working. I've tried a known good switch gear stalk to no...

    rev. light fuse?

After buying a pair of 18W LED lights off ebay for £9, I proceeded to fit them & wire them up. Switched the ign. on & selected reverse.......nothing happened: no surprise there then, but there must be a live feed as the rear view camera works OK. Stripped out the rear light & went to remove the...

    Terrano Loom Connectors

Not really relevant, but since you've finished towing you might like to know that Terrano towbars are as rare as hen's teeth. I've just had mine replaced (rear-ended by speeding 'blind' queue-jumper) after much searching I was told "it's the last one in this country". Cost £200 + fitting.

    rev. light fuse?

Thanks for the offer but I've carried a spare ign. switch for 3 years after warning on here that they are suspect. The washer pump cost me £15 from local car spares. Old one makes a noise & impeller spins but no flow....again, LOL. Think it's the weird diaphram between the outlets, don't know...

    rev. light fuse?

Thanks Rick, guess I can't avoid getting under it any longer LOL.

    rev. light fuse?

My rev. light won't work, I've changed the blown bulb but there is no power. Is there a fuse hidden somewhere I don't know about as those in both fuse boxes appear Ok? All other lights are working. Any advice appreciated as I can't make sense of the wiring diagrams. Coincidentally (?) the ign...

    Disappearing clutch pedal !!

When I had this happen ( many years ago & on a different car) it turned out to be worn seals. May be worth changing them?

    Intercooler - minor oil contamination

What about fitting a catch-can? They're cheap enough off e-bay & easy to fit. I put one on mine a year ago, just in case really. It's only just getting an oily deposit 3K later (1/2 normal miles thanks to covid). A stich-in-time & all that....

    Oil change

A few tips to get the best effect: 1, Drain oil when very HOT & give it at least 10 mins. to fully drain thus ensuring max. contaminate removal in the quickest time. 2, Pour 1/2 L of fresh oil into the sump so as to flush out the remaining oil that will still be lying about, again...

    Sunroof drain holes

Mind you don't dislodge the drain pipes (easily done at the roof end) or a mysterious damp patch will appear on the head lining. Only one guess needed to figure out how I know this LOL.

    3L instrument panel U/S; HELP!

I've just spent the best part of an hour fiddling with the needles & got them in fairly accurate positions. In fact the speedometer reads true at 30 (was 36!) & above now (though not as good at very slow speeds, but I can live with that). So all-in-all I'm quite chuffed! The only...

    3L instrument panel U/S; HELP!

Thanks for the offers 'solarman216' & 'Banshee' but the digital display is un-repairable. A complete instrument panel seems to be the best bet.
