Minor problem with oil contamination in intercooler. Leak onto the heat shield above exhaust manifold which then runs down n/s of engine. Not massive, but is this acceptable? Have had the turbo checked for wear, but my technician says its all fine at 98K miles. No oil consumption or smoking from exhaust either.

Cleaned out intercooler and he suggests there may be a split in the intercooler and could need repair. But having removed it, I can't see any damage and it seems in good condition compared to most for sale on eBay! I might get it professionally checked or repaired by a specialist,or leave it,but any advice would be most welcome! Many thanks..

Welcome mate

Check you haven't got perished hoses onto the intercoolers, you may need to change them as I've developed splits in mine before now.

I'm sure I'll be able to source you an intercooler if you need one

Many thanks for your advice. Will look at replacing both and see if that cures the problem.

A very small crack in your intercooler allowing oil to drip is not a great problem and is common, just ignore it, Rick

Thanks Rick.Having looked at everything else I think that must be the problem. Hoses are fine.Pity Nissan decided mounting intercooler on top of the engine was a good idea due to vibration? Still, easy to get to and repair...

What about fitting a catch-can? They're cheap enough off e-bay & easy to fit. I put one on mine a year ago, just in case really. It's only just getting an oily deposit 3K later (1/2 normal miles thanks to covid). A stich-in-time & all that....
